Joan, I will pray for strength and a heep of patience and understanding for your sister and for you. Being a caregiver is a wonderful job but taking care of a dementia patient is a very trying job. You cannot make sense out of nonsense nor can you make them understand no matter how many ways you try. At the end of the day the rewards are great. My prayers will be for all of you!

        Joan,
will be praying for you. This break will do your sister a whole lot of good. Something that maybe you can share with your sister is that it's very possible that dad may have some kind of dementia. That with folks who have dementia they function very, very differently. It's as though someone has taken their card file (imagine the old library cards where we had to actually go look things up) and tipped the whole thing over, scattering the information all over the place and misfiled them so accessing the information in the right order is nearly impossible.

I would also suggest that a support group be sought out so that she knows that she's not alone and those folks might have some suggestions for handling dad.

        God bless!

Joan, I agree with Sylvia. It's so hard and my sister and I both never got to the point where we didn't just want to GET my mom to understand, but it can't be done. You giving your sister a break is a huge gift and I certainly will be praying for you with understanding. Social services was called in by a neighbor of my sister's and the state took custody of my mom and made us pick a nursing home. My sister tried beyond her capabilities to take care of her and never would have given up. Now mom is more peaceful (not totally peaceful-just more!) than in her whole life even before the dementia. I'm just sharing this with you in case you face having to get a nursing home. It really was the best solution for my mom. Hugs to you and God's Blessings.

Well, they finally decided that Kate has a UTI--after more than a week of fever!

Haven't heard anything new on Jordan.

Bridget--how is Morgan; pray for her and the tests she had today.

Thanks for asking Ritzy and thanks to all of you who have prayed for Morgan. Her tests came back with no signs of kidney reflux at all! No more daily antibiotics! Hooray! As long as she doesn't get any more UTI's, she'll just need a follow-up ultrasound in a year and that's it! She's fine this afternoon and is busy playing with her new stuffed bunny that the ultrasound lady gave her for being such a good girl.

I am asking for some serious prayer today. I am scared and anxious, but at the same time I know that God is with me. Today I am feeling very dizzy. I can barely sit here and type this. Any movement or watching tv or computer screen makes it worse.

Five months ago I was hospitalized for four days for suddon onset of vertigo. It was much worse than I am experiencing today. After all kinds of tests the only answers the doctors could offer were that I had excess ear wax and/or it could be a virus causing the vertigo. It took at least two weeks for me to be able to walk through the house without hanging onto walls and furniture.

Last Saturday I had a short episode of veritigo and then felt off-balance for a couple days. Now today, the veritigo is back.
I still have some medication, but it isn't helping much and it makes me foggy brained.

It has been a stressful summer as my mother has reluctantly made the decision to sell her home of many years and buy a house just three houses down the street from us. I want her nearby so I can watch over her. She is 86 today. I don't want to be really sick and need surgery or die after moving her out of her comfort zone.
I'm all she has. My brother was killed 6 yrs ago and my dad died 2 years ago.

                              Please pray. Thanks.

Joyce, you are in our prayers. I understand how you feel, I have had constant pain for many years. My mom is 83 and lives with my sister, so I know how that goes too! Just rest today, and know we are praying.
