If you squared up to 6”, then you have 1/2” to make up when sewing them to their neighbor blocks. I would just space those 5 around in the quilt top, ease them in, and dare anyone to find them!
Needlecat and Ghoney, A half inch would be a large amount of easing on such a small block. It will make your quilt top not lay flat. I know you can quilt densely and suck
up a little extra fabric but the overall look of the quilt will suffer. I would not try to easy more than a 1/4 inch max. I agree with pines that you would be better to make all
the blocks that size, and have a smaller quilt. You can make more blocks to make it bigger. If you put a quarter inch finished sashing around the 5 smaller blocks in one of the solid colors
you could get it back to the correct size and call it a design element. These are just my thoughts on the subject. Don't give up, just correct course and keep on stitching.

djane, Debbie--I LOVE YOUR QUILT! I think it is my favorite of all I've seen. The star in the center with 4 blocks--brilliant! The quilt has symmetry, is well-balanced, uses the large florals so effectively. If I was the judge--you win mu Judge's Choice Award!

Very nice! I thought of laying my quilt out like this, but it took me in a different direction. It is nice to see how it would have looked. I hope your husband’s back is feeling better soon.

This has been a wonderful learning experience. All the layouts I am seeing here on the forum are amazing. It is so cool how we start out with the same blocks and all the quilts end up so different.

Djane: I love your setting. I have several "raw" 9 inch blocks and was going to scatter them in the quilt, but when I saw yours if I thought: I am so stealing that idea!! My husband loves it. I am making a quilt for a king size water bed so it will be 108X108. I'll be working on blocks for a while yet!

bhalbard Brenda--I am happy to give you some quilty ideas. My husband likes this setting too and it is fun to decide on the next round in the medallion. Looking forward to seeing a picture of your quilt.

Knew I was going to need more Brassica. Scored most of the colors and a couple that weren’t in the original packet. I will continue to lay out my quilt while I wait for my fabric to arrive. It wasn’t cheap, but it will let me do what I want to do.

I still have a few more blocks to make, but I cannot make up my mind about setting. This looks very blah to me. I am getting to the point of abandoning it.

Gradyk. I really like your setting and the black background fabric. Keep working on this as it has promise! For me personally, I might try the Kaffe fabrics for the setting triangles instead of the black. Possibly combine two smaller triangles to form one large setting triangle to continue the color families.

Do to my husband’s health issues, I haven’t been able to sew on the Kaffe and Alex mystery quilt. But I have so enjoyed sharing the journey with everyone and have still learned a tremendous amount. I fully intend to make this quilt someday. Thanks to Alex and everyone who participated and shared their work. I hope people will post pictures of their finished tops.

Made some progress. Will add triangle once rest of quilt laid out. An older applique project, sheep are supervising, lol.

This is the first time I have ever put blocks on point; and to be honest, the first time I have done these types of blocks with flying geese. Not perfect, but they will do. As you can tell, I have fallen in love with the Brassica fabric and decided to make a border out of triangles using the Brassica. Still have the top and bottom to complete , then on to making the back with my leftovers. Maybe the colors are too much??? But I think a pandemic quilt needs to lift my spirits as the colors do.
