Hi, I have a Janome 9400 and am using my HP foot. If you don't have this foot try using the F foot or the Teflon foot. I just tried both and no problems. Also use your straight stitch plate if you have one. Hope this helps.

Did a practice house, tuned out cute.
However, my Janome 1/4" presser foot drags on the exposed freezer paper when sewing the long background pieces.
I did raise the foot pressure to help. Any suggestions?
Try covering the exposed freezer paper with a yellow sticky note as it feeds under your pressure foot. The sticky note has much less friction.

I also intend to add some parks as I live in a rural area, but that’s for another day!
:woohoo: You took it to a whole other level of awesomeness. Wow and double wow

I know this may sound like a lame question, but for this month are we making only houses 1 and 2 or are we making 16 in total?

Hello MckPwll, good question: answer: we are making 16 houses this month all in all. Eight House #1's and eight House #2's. I know it can be confusing. Can't wait for February.

I have another basic question. Which thread am I supposed to be using—the thread kit comes with 60wt and 80 wt. I don’t know the difference.

60 wt for top thread, 80 wt in the bobbin

Great Idea Jillypea. I'm glad I saw yours before I started mine. I might do something similar.

Hi. Being a bit technically challenged in some things- I've never contributed on a blog before.
How do I read the threads, and if I want to post a photo of my work, how do I do that. I have completed my Number 1 houses, and now on to number 2

Hopefully I can find the reply to this somewhere in the blog

                    Cheers

                    Pam

                      Pam,
Somewhere I watched a video of Barbara Black explaining how to do this. I'm just not sure where I saw the video.
It may be in one of her "intro" videos. I'd look there for right now.
She told how to respond and include the original message to which you are responding.
And she told how to include a photo.
I'll be watching to see the response as well.
                      Janice.

Hello Pammo: There is a video on how to use the Message Thread here on the Forum. The video is called "Getting Ready" and is located under Learn. To get there, go to LEARN (Classes and BOM) in the main menu. The drop down menu will show Block of the Month- click that and you will see "BOM 2021". Click that and Scroll down to "Instructional Videos" . The third instructional video is GETTING READY. Barbara explains how to utilize the message thread, starting at about 19:08. I need to review it again myself. It's very helpful.

Hi! I have made four of the small houses so far, but before I proceed, I am unsure about the instructions for upper roof unit, step 8. Do we trim to 1/4 inch or not when sewing to the above window piece? It doesn't say. Thanks for your help, so far lots of fun!

                          Comment

Norwayquilter, Yes, just like each piece in the unit you trim the previous unit to the quarter inch then align the roof piece to that. Try finishing one house to see the whole finished unit. That way if you make a mistake you only have to rip one out and make adjustments.HelenW

I have a laser printer so I'm doing traditional FPP too. Another dinosaur here! I like the accuracy of it and I'm removing the paper as I finish the houses. (Freezer paper can Not be fed through a laser printer)
