I'm going to wait until the weather gets cooler and DD goes back to college. Then I may give a Rhapsody quilt a try.
BTW, I went to Ricky's site yesterday, and the Grand Finale dvd was sold out!!! WAH! Guess I'll go to sew thankful's site.

      Hi Eileen,

Not sure what you saw on our site but we have plenty of Grand Finale DVD's.

      Thanks, Justin

what exactly is going on with this rhapsody quilt? it seems that we haven't seen the flag fly for a very long time. Is it over? I don't want to complain, but I just feel like I have been left hanging.
I have moved on with other projects as I just don't know what to do next. This kind of quilting is new to me, I'm sorry I don't know as much as the rest of the group.

Roni8, I remember Ricky saying he had to have a rhapsody quilt ready in August. My guess is that he's sewing his fingers to the bones trying to get it ready. If it's as much work as I think it is, I just don't see how he can possibly make the deadline. I know I couldn't. I could do August, but in the year 2525!! (For you oldies, does that remind you of a song?!!!)

I haven't figured out the whole process, so I don't know if he's doing hand applique or machine. If machine, then possibly he'll finish in time. If by hand, then maybe the dogs and Justin could lend a hand/paw!!

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece, too, but we have all winter to do a rhapsody. It'll be something good to do sitting by the fire/TV, or computer, watching TQS reruns!

The anticipation is part of the excitement, and I know we're all excited to see the results.

Have a great rest of the weekend, everybody, Sharon in NE TN

I am also wondering if I have missed something. Is there going to be more info on the rhapsody technique? Kathy in hot western Colorado

Hello All, I would love for Ricky to make the flag wave. But I remeber him saying that all would be revealed in due time. In the meantime, I've been stay stitching and tracing my appliques for my quilt. Piecing the quilt will be a challenge.

I've just uploaded a picture of my rhapsody quilt in progress. the applique is all fused on, but nothing is stitched yet. I don't have a large enough design wall to show the quilt straight on, so it is on a bed.
At first, I wasn't sure I liked the colors (I dyed them) but now that the applique is on, I'm much happier with it.
Now comes the scary part! I don't do a whole lot of machine applique, and I'm nervous about messing up. I want the stitching to look good!
First I have to decide what color thread to use with each of the appliques--do I want them to blend or contrast?

Elsie, the Rhapsody in progress is stunning! The colors are amazing, and you are so good at the Celtic style motifs. My first reaction about thread color was to use matching colors, but you know, I think more is better! Maybe variegated in the same color family in the part you're stitching might be a good compromise? Love it!

Beautiful. WOW! Your other quilts are equally awesome. Will you be my on-line mentor and teach me how to do all that? I can pay you in fat quarters.
