That Vase fabric is from a Jenny Beyer packet that I bought a couple of years ago. I big stack from Sauders in PA. All kinds of jewel tones. Funny thing is that it’s been sitting in my sewing room in a bundle tied with a ribbon looking pretty. I wanted to use it on this quilt and my dd said NO! it’s so pretty save it - FOR WHAT??. When she saw it on the block, her eyes got real big and she looked at where the packet WAS and knew I had finally cut into it. Makes a perfect vase and I have a few pieces that will make a perfect basket too!

Margo your scientific names gave me a big belly laugh! Denise, love the blocks and the pieced backgrounds. I have alot of Jinny Beyer fabric too since I used to live down the street from her and she was in my guild. I just love her designs and I too am using them in this BOM.

Denise, you might want to check the "Member Blogs" page to see a picture of the first 12 March blocks that I posted on the 12th! It's amazing to see them all together and see how different the blocks look! Really inspiring!

Duffy, it is so great to have an international forum! I love the gradations on the lilies, looks so natural! And your fabric choice on the vase gives it a realistic crackle look! Can't wait to see your February vase. I saw iridescent when I saw the vase, it is so great to hear and see how others interpret the pattern!

Carla, like Pat said, it's NOT freezer paper, but a stabilizer. Its a polyester product that is stiff when it comes off the roll, but gets really soft when after it's been wet so it can be left in!

I'm in the process of making a comparison of stabilizers this morning and have got to tell you that both her stabilizer and Ricky's Stable Stuff are a DREAM to use this way! They are both white and also help to prevent shadow-through when appliqueing over darker fabrics.

I'm waiting until I receive another stabilizer from Jukebox Quilts to include in the comparison before I post photos, but I really like this technique!

I'm just hand appliqueing circles onto a background of black and white to see how the washed product looks. I'll post ASAP!
If anyone is interested in seeing what I learned, check out album #10 on my web site:

                          http://community.webshots.com/user/TennGram

There is something else that I recently learned. I also ordered some of Sharon's freezer paper because she said it was "commercial" grade. I figured that all freezer paper would be the same, but it's not!!! I've had trouble with fabric not sticking well to some fabrics, especially if they have not been pre-washed and still have the original sizing in them. THIS STUFF STICKS!
I really like it, and will definately use it when I have to feed fabric fused to freezer paper through my printer for labels!

I've hopefully gotten the pix of my January block posted correctly. I am severely computer challenged, but I think they are on my profile. Got to a late start by waiting to use the kit, but may be caught up by the end of the month. Yippee! Sally in maybe it might be spring someday NE Ohio
