Hello Barbara, yes Im getting excited and ready for Color My World. Today I took a moment to cut a little swatch of all my fabrics chosen so far for this project. I have attached a picture, hope it works!

Connie, great collection of fabrics. You will have fun.

The houses don't come with assigned fabric placement so everyone will be their own architect. creating each house/building with their own choice of fabric. however they like.

Thank you Barbara. My new question is do you think I should I cut strips for the borders before cutting into my fabric for the individual months. ( I am the one with 5 panels instead of one cut of background fabric. )

The instructions for cutting borders is to cut seven 5” strips, width of fabric, then piece them to fit the quilt. So look at the panels to see how those 5” wide strips will look as the outside border. If you do cut them in advance be sure to clearly label them so they don’t get lost or used for something else.

I am curious what you report about the panels as borders. I hope they will work for you.

Hi everyone. I loved the art history print and was disappointed when the kit had run out. I didn’t wait to see if the quilt show could get more and found this fabric Online. And figured I could use up stash fabrics for the buildings. I just got my order and they cut the fabric into panels. Barbara, do you think this will work or so I need to piece them together to make it work. Thanks...
ebmotha, I too was thinking about using panels for my background fabric, but have not yet committed to buying them. I was thinking of using the Hoffman Super Nova panels
because I love the way they go from light bright in the center to dark on the outer edges.I am considering one of these two. Do you have a picture of your panels? I would be interested to see what you have in mind.

Hi Helen. The panels I bought were art history the same as the original quilt but the online shop cut it as panels instead of as yardage. I like the panels you chose. When I saw it I thought that the sky ombré prints by Jennifer Sampou might be an interesting choice for this quilt as well.

So.... I pulled out the fabric to see how I would cut the border fabric. And something didn’t look right so when I compared the fabric to Wendy William’s choice it was different. I still think I am going to try to make this work but then when I looked at your panels you were thinking about I thought about the Jennifer Sampou sky ombré and thought that might be an interesting choice. I have already bought the 1/2 yd bundles then bought the dawn star and the hearth quilt kits. So what’s a few more yards lol.

Ebmotha, I think your panels look very similar and would probably work fine. I like your idea about using ombre. I know there are lot of
them out there. It would be easier to get the transition I have in mind, than with the circle shape as another variable. It is the light to darker
that I am thinking I would like. HelenW

I agree I think it could be spectacular with the ombré

Aurifil cotton comes in 50 and 80 wt, not 60 wt.

Alex Anderson recommends Quilters Select, 60 and 80 wt and that is what I use most often. It is easily available right here in The Quilt Show Store.

I was just watching the Facebook Live and, was wondering why you need to write information on the pattern. Other complex foundation piecing patterns I have done have had all the information on the pattern already. Including the name of the pattern in the seam allowance.

A big THANK YOU for changing up the style of this year's BOM. This will be the first year I have participated because of the pattern. Also, after viewing today's intro by Barbara, I am even more excited to get started. Kudos to Barbara for the great instruction on all of the how-tos and getting around the website. I have valued everyone's posts with questions, etc. This is going to be fabulous!!!
