          MANY PRAYERS NEEDED!!

My DH, Terry, went in for his routine yearly check up. Except, it has been two years this time. His psa numbers were EXTREMELY eleveated. We don't know the cause, but guessing it is cancer. I spoke with his doctor for about 15 minutes last night on the phone, and while she was assuring me that there were other things that can raise the psa level, she stated she could not assure me it wasn't. She said she did not want to give me a false hope. She tried to calm me by telling me prostate cancer is slow growing, very treatable, and there are many options. We didn't go into any more details. Terry has an appointment set up with a urologist for next Thursday, July 21. It had originally been set up for August 9, but I put some pressure on them! (It's called PANIC!) His psa number should be around 4.5, and it is 29.5. Not good!

So, I am asking for prayers that we can be a little calmer (#10 on Margo's 10 commandments, above) and, of course, that it will NOT be cancer. God has given us some major economic/lifestyle challenges in the past 4 years, and we have worked through them. This will also be VERY, VERY costly to us right now! We were hoping to not have another challenge quite so soon.

          Thank you all!

Dawn, I pray that you may both find some peace in the coming week and that the doctor's news next Thursday will be much better than your worst imaginings. I pray that whatever comes the Lord will guide you through. Sending you big hugs and lifting many prayers for you and Terry.

Oh Dawn, how scary!!! Many hugs and prayers coming your way that whatever this is can be treated easily! Until you get the test results, though, I pray you and DH can have some peace of mind. Hugs, Robin

Dawn, I am so sorry to hear of that scary PSA report. I'm also sorry that I didn't see this until this morning! But I'm praying all the same! I can understand why it is so scary. There is a song that has been popular for quite a few years now. I can't tell you who sings it or what the exact name of it is but I will tell you one of the phrases from the song is "Sometimes He calms the storm, other times He calms His child". I am praying he will calm BOTH in your case. Hang in there and keep us posted.

Kalynn, Thank you for the phrase! The Internet is a marvelous thing! I searched the phrase and found the words to the whole song. It is written by Scott Krippayne and is such a beautiful poem.

Meanwhile, DH went for one of his usual bicycle rides this past Saturday, and we walked about 3 miles on Sunday. He felt great. One thing about avid bicyclists, their psa numbers are elevated. But, by how much? Another question for the urologist! Also, would it be wise to wait a bit, and rerun the test, before doing any invasive tests, like biopsies. (A repeat of a psa needs to wait at least 4 weeks, or so we have read.) We have felt the prayers, and are a lot calmer, with a better emotional attitude in the last few days. We are not focused on the gloom and doom of what if it is.........but rather on; maybe the test is wrong, maybe it is some medication that he is on, etc.

Terry knew I was taking this whole thing pretty hard, so on his way home from work on Friday, he brought me flowers and a bottle of wine, which of course I shared!

Thank you all for the prayers. Hopefully we'll know a little more on Thursday. I'll probably post some more info on Friday.
