In its simplicity of color and design, "My Murtle" speaks an awe-inspiring tale! Your turtle looks like it has traveled from the depths of the ocean up to see the light! Love how you combined Noriko Endo and Susan Carlson concepts and made this beautiful piece your own. So beautiful! Congratulations, Nancy! :cheer:

Nancy brilliant. The background technique is inspired. I'm going to have to find the book and learn about the turtle.

Thank you for the encouraging comments. These challenges are a good place to try out something different on a small scale. Lois bondaweb is a fusible with backing paper. It's always seperating from the paper (usually a bad thing) so it was easy to peel off and lay over the flowers.

Wow! Wonderful entries Wendy and Nancy!

Wendy, your pansies are so pretty. I see you whizzed around the outside....

Nancy, love your little piece. The fabrics, colors, and of course the turtle.

What creative minds you both have!

        Thanks for sharing!

Wendy - Its absolutely gorgeous! I agree it'd be a wonderful card photo. Kudos to your quilt group.

Nancy - Love your Murtle I do have a memory of "Matthew Looney's Voyage to the Earth". Fun see the process on your blog!

Nancy, I love it! I collect children's books. How'd I miss that one? Got to get it! And the quilt is absolutely terrific. Great work. First time I peeked at your blog. Now I've got to catch up with that.

"What are the little circles on either side of her tail trail? Are they meant to be turtle eggs? Are they thread circles or buttons of some sort? Can't quite make them out. "

I say/guess they are the turtle's footprints in the snow.

Luann, I knew you'd like the challenge.

Beautiful entries Wendy & Nancy. I didn't have much trouble deciding on my favourite book The Three Musketeers - I just couldn't decide how to illustrate it  (amongst other things).

Well its taken me a lot longer to finish my CW challenge from last time - Inspired by Libby - but I have finally finished it.

                  A slightly wonky whole quilt

I have named it 'The Golden Thread' for Libby Lehman. I am very pleased with how it turned out and it will look perfect up on my living room wall.

                    Rita,
                    Wow!
I watched her DVD and although she makes it look easy, I'm sure it isn't. Your color transitions in thread and borders has a nice flow to them. Take a bow!! Applause.

Wow, Rita! It was well worth the wait. It's stunning! Any thought of entering it in FoQ? If it's too late for this year (I don't know the timing), then there's always next year. I think this quilt should be shared.

Aw thanks everybody! Nancy I had fully intended on submitting it to FoQ but discovered a week before closing date that it was 1/2" too small! Yes I could have put some sort of dangly thing at one end but I ran out of time to either do it or figure it out because I was so busy with the day job. Maybe I will do something for next year. :cheer:

Rita, that is beautiful, shame it didn't fit into FoQ.
