I wish I had a name that had a special Tartan linked to it, but no such luck. Maybe I should go in search of a potential Scottish husband. Here is the Anderson one (very nice - could see myself wearing that):

This last picture is especially for Maureen. The glass you see (notice the dogs!!! Click on picture for larger image) is one of a set of 6 (5 have survived) that belonged to my late father. I can remember them being used when I was very little, so I guess they are from the 1950s (proper 'vintage', but not valuable). My older son told me very clearly some time ago that I better look after them because he wants to inherit them. I told him that I'd try, but that they would get used. I don't hide 'stuff' that I like. quote]

The tartan in the mug rug is cotton so comes up brighter that in the traditional wool tartan. My maiden name is Campbell so I have that and all the offshoots as well.

Lorchen, I knew you would appreciate the black and white Scotties as there is a Scotch Whisky called Black& White. Although it is a blend and not malt, I thought of you and interpreted it in a mug rug. Terrific that you have glasses with Black & White on them. Don't blame your son for wanting them.

I love the mug rug you sent Lorchen Rita. What a lovely scene and as usual great quilting.

Beautiful mug rugs Wendy and Maureen! Lucky you Lorchen.

Lorchen, I am reliving my Scotland/Ireland trip of fall 2012 thanks to your calling out the various names of scotch. I don't drink scotch which makes my husband very happy! He got all my samples! But I do remember the distilleries and how different and pretty they were.

The mug ruggers are such fun people!

Glad you like the mug rug Lorchen Ritzy, the lighthouse was already painted onto a fabric I got at IQFOI last June. I know Lorchen likes lighthouses so it seemed fitting. I stitched around it to give it a more 3D look. I also stuck a little diamonte stone in the top of the lighthouse so that it would occasionally flash as Lorchen walks past it. Hope it doesn't get in the way of the single malt glass.

I know I should be talking about mug rugs here, but I'm going to hi-jack this thread, because there are things that are more important than fabrics and threads. I spent the evening with my granddaughters, and my daughter-in-law snapped this picture:
