Now, Wendy, you COULD save it up and just send it over to me. But each person has their own way of doing their duty. Enjoy it all for me. What a gal - taking over for me in my absence.

I got the call - 6:00AM tomorrow, but I can eat chocolate today!
I will miss you, but be sure I'll get on the forum asap. Trying to finish off a quilt for my sister who is going through chemo. I'm using Bamboo batting, and just looked it up and you can leave between 8 and 10 inches between stitching, so I just might do it. Not my first or favourit idea, but since time is of the essence.... Using my walking foot, as I'm not confident enough yet to do FMQ on anything bigger than a Mug Rug. Also cooking up a storm for DH for when I'm not here.

Too funny, Terrie! I, too, wish you all the best for tomorrow and look forward to when you can return to the Forum! You got a great time slot for tomorrow... not enough time for your stomach to start growling and wanting more chocolate that early in the am! XXX

All the best for tomorrow Terrie, Will you be needing any British Ruby beholder's for your convalecence?

Terrie, the luck of the Irish to you tomorrow from me. I made this scrappy quilt using bamboo batting and my walking foot as a quilt-as-you-go project. Yeah I know I did a lot more than 8-10" quilting. I like the bamboo batting because it is very soft - the only thing I don't like is that it makes my nose tickle because the fibres come loose quicker than cotton, or at least that is what I have found. Good luck with your sisters quilt. Please show us photos as soon as you can. And I am sure we will all look forward to hearing from you as you convalesce. Hugs, Rita.

Love your quilt Rita. You know, I think straight line quilting is just as beautiful as FMQ. Did you enjoy quilt as you go? My sister hated it but hers was in rows not 4 large squares.

We sell Bamboo wadding at the Studio and after I cut the stuff I am absolutely covered in white fluff   but it is the top seller after 80/20. We have also got Earth Blend which is 50% Flax/ 50% Cotton (hasn’t sold very well) and
Soft Soya Blend, which is 50%Soya/50%Cotton (that sold really well)

Maureen, QAYG is my new best friend. I have two very large quilts to quilt in the usual manner but after that I think I will be doing everything else QAYG because it is the easiest on my arms and wrists which is where I really feel it with the large quilts on a domestic machine. I am interested to know why the flax/cotton blend did not sell? Is it less soft? And is the soya blend as soft as the bamboo? Here we usually have a choice of either cotton or wool when available. I love the wool best of all but it is slightly harder to quilt because it has more loft.

Woo-Hoo! I'm a free woman! (well actually, I could be quite expensive given the opportunity  ) but my quilt is winging it's way across the Irish Sea (I hope - fingers crossed) to Rita as I type. I intend to relax and take up some undemanding clothing sewing for Izzy next (she spotted a fq of mine that she liked and I had to go & get some more to make her a dress   )

Congratulations, Rosemary! Quite a relief, huh?

I love bamboo batting, too, but have the same problem with fluff. I try to get the borders quilted and the binding put on as soon as possible when using bamboo. I don't know if it's the fiber or how the batting is processed. I have the same problem with Quilter's Dream cotton batting, but not with other cotton battings. That's why I wonder if it's the processing rather than the fiber itself.

Congratulations Rosemary! Now that you've gone ashore, hope we don't have to sing, "What do you do with a drunken sailor?" Must feel really good to have passed the con over to the good captain Rita who is about to get haze gray and underway pretty soon. Wishing you fair winds and following seas, Rita!

And now, go have fun, Rosemary!!!
