Hello quilters. I didn't drop off the face of the earth. All of a sudden I stopped getting email updates on all the forums. Well, it was good timing anyway, because my Mom and I got together this weekend. We've been really busy making tons of HSTs. Actually a total of 1049. We finished hers and the ones for Batiks-R-Us and partial on my HSTs. Busy busy busy. It was Mom's first time doing anything quilting and I think she had a really good time. She is talking of fabric shopping. I think she is hooked. Clara

It is getting close to that time and I am going to put out my call to quilters. "Team HSTs" needs to be put into action! Anyone in the Houston or surrounding areas that would be interested in helping on sorting day. Please step up and say if you are out there. I will post more info as it gets closer. This is going to be a big event and we can use all the hands we can get. Clara

We should include the receipt for the postage payment in the envelope with out HSTs. Is this ccorrect?

I'd like to ask how much is it for postage for 616 HSTs from USA to Canada, including the envelope? And, do I pay Margo or Debbie?

Thanks for doing all this. You gals are beautiful, marvelous, wonderful. You are appreciated VERY MUCH!
All of the information about mailing packages, both domestic and International, is included in the 2nd post on Page 1 of this Forum.
That post includes info on how many HST's can be put into what size Flat Rate boxes/envelopes. Since you're sending 616, you will need one medium (more expensive!) or two small Flat Rate boxes/envelopes to return them to you. One small FR box/envelope will hold approximtely 308 HSTs.

International packages DO NOT need to include a return envelope, only an address label (or two if you've paid for two small International Flat Rate boxes). I have plenty of International Flat Rate Boxes/Envelopes at my home. It will also be cheaper from your end if you don't have to pay for the extra weight of that envelope.

Yes, the PP receipt DOES need to be included with your package. Email Clara and she will give you the information on how to charge on PayPal.

Thanks for checking before mailing. Don't forget to send me an email (not in a Private Message) when your package has been mailed.

For our INTERNATIONAL QUILTERS ONLY, we will now ONLY accept PayPal to pay for your return postage...no International Reply Coupons, no International Money Orders...ONLY PayPal. Clara has graciously offered the use of her PayPal account to simplify the process for both the sender and the receiver.

For PayPal details, please send ClaraLawrence (screen name) an email and make arrangements for sending monies through PayPal. This service accepts credit cards and you do not have to set up an account to send money.

The cost to mail the Small International Flat Rate box or envelope is $13.95 US (each will hold approx. 300 neatly packaged HSTs). There will also be a minimal extra charge from PayPal, that will vary by amount paid. Once you've completed your payment thru the PayPal account, you will need to make a copy of the PayPal receipt and include it in your shipment.. You will also need to carefully determine what size flat rate box will need to be used to return your package. If you underestimate, we'll have to contact you to make another payment to cover the excess cost.

I am so grateful that this method of payment is now available. It will be much less complicated for everyone involved with shipping Internationally.

HOW MANY HST'S FIT INTO A FLAT RATE BOX/ENVELOPE????

A flat rate cardboard envelope (12-1/2" x 9-1/2") can hold approximately 308 HSTs. The Small Flat Rate Box (1-1/2" high x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2') will also hold about 308 HSTs. I kept the HST's in the eleven baggies they were already in and that filled up the box pretty well. If they weren't in individual baggies, but maybe only one or two, there should be enough room for 308 (eleven increments of 28 HSTs). Remember to pack them carefully so they don't get scrunched and wrinkled!

The above International smaller envelope and box to and to all other countries, it is $13.95 US. Canada/Mexico is $11.95 US
          __________________________________________________ _____________________________-

The Medium Flat Rate Box (5-1/2" high x 11" x 8-1/2") should hold 700-1092 comfortably (remember increments of 28), but that size does cost significantly more Internationally. The cost to Canada/Mexico is $27.95 US and to all other countries, it is $45.50.

Before I posted my HST I tried them in different packages. I had a used US flat rate priority envelope (12-1/2" x 9-1/2") ($13.95 US) and I was able to put in the 616 plus 70 more for Queensland and Hanne-Grete with room to spare so assumed that you would use that to send the HST back Internationally. I then read that the next size up would cost $45.50 US.

I don’t want to give you more work but would it not make more sense, if the returning 616 HST don’t fit into the flat rate envelope, to put them in two separate envelopes as that will only cost $27.90 US, a difference of $17.60 which is quite a lot.

Sorry if you had already thought of this and had decided to do that.

Maureen, we will ONLY use International Flat Rate Boxes/Envelopes to return International packages and 616 will definitely not fit into one small box/envelope. You will need to pay for two small boxes @ $13.95, each. 308 will fit into the small box/envelope. We cannot use the priority envelopes because those vary by price depending on size and weight, so we are unable to estimate in advance how much your return package will cost. That's why the decision was made to only go with the International Flat Rate option.

I finally got a customer's quilt finished and can finish my HSTs. I will try to get them mailed tomorrow. I will email you after I have them mailed. I just have a couple more to sew and then cut them apart. April will be here before we know it. Just wish the weather was more spring like. Am looking forward to a "shower of HSTs", bringing some beatiful May HST flowers.

Quilter Momma ... Remember you don't need to put them into individual baggies with counts or you name on them. Putting them all in one (or two if necessary) larger Ziplock bag is preferred and that bag should have your screen name, name & count. Hopefully, this should make it go faster for you.

                            Thanks,
                            Debbie

Tina, Please email Clara Lawrence and she will help you with the PayPal charges. Also review my post, with picture, on Page 50 regarding how to package you HST's. You'll see there that we DO NOT need them packaged individually by count. I only need the total count, screen name & name on the large bag. Also, since you are sending over 308 HSTs, you will need to pay for two small International Flat Rate boxes so we can return them to you. That info is all posted on the 2nd post on the Page 1 of this Forum. Do not include a return envelope with your HSTs, just two lables to use on the Flat Rate boxes.
