Here is a Jinny Beyer video showing how she chooses fabrics, and I think it's an excellent way to experiment!

If you have Electric Quilt software, you can use that to audition different fabrics, but I don't know how to set up a layout like the BOM. If anyone can do that and make the design available for other members who have the software to play with different colors, we would love to be able to do that!

Thank you so much Margo for posting the link to Jinny Beyers color palette video. It is fantastic. I am one of those that doesn't know where to begin to pick colors for a project. Her portable palette is perfect. I want to do the 2013 BOM but with a different colors and this will definitely help me. Thanks again for all your help throughout all the different forums.

I want to try one and maybe this is the year, but I see the pattern is available to Star members free if they renew? Not sure if they will send it to me or give me an email link to the pattern? I want to use my own fabrics so I do not need a kit. Does anyone know about this?

The BOM patterns are always available under the "BOM" tab at the top of the Web site. You can look there now to see the 2012 BOM pattern links. And if you are currently a star member, you can download all of the patterns for the 2012 BOM so far. This is how they do it every year.

I am thinking about doing a rough mockup of the quilt in Electric Quilt to play with colorings. I love the colors in the original, but don't think I want to use the kit. When I did the Ruffled Roses kit, i realized that making the fabric choices was a big part of the fun for me.
                  This quilt looks like fun!

Join as a Star Member and get all of the BOM 2013 patterns for FREE. I saw this on a blog in the quilt show a couple of days now... but no clickable link to anything. Confusing since I have already paid my dues for next year.

The 2013 BOM will only become available in January of 2013. Usually each month at the beginning of the month. They have made kits available for those who want to purchase those materials so that they will be ready to begin in January.

It would be nice for those of us who are going to choose our own fabrics to know how much we will need of each colour though so that we can also begin at the start of January.

You are all set! You don't have to do anything or sign up for the BOM. As long as you are a star member for the duration of 2013, you will have access to the 2013 BOM. If your membership expires sometime in 2013, then you'd have to rejoin as a star member to keep having access to the BOM (and everything else!).

If they follow the same schedule as they did in 2012, then on the first of each month of 2013, there will be an announcement on the Daily Blog page that that month's BOM directions are ready. There will be a link at that point so it's easy to click on it to get to the page where the BOM stuff is. Or you can go to the BOM tab in the main menu on the top of every page, and scroll down until you see the 2013 BOM area. All the patterns will be there each month for you to download free to your computer. Each month's directions will stay there and be available for the whole year.

Usually on or around Dec 1st, there will be an intro posting with an overview and yardage requirements, so keep an eye out for that. Then come Jan 1st, the first installment should be up!

                        Hope this helps!
                        Michelle

and if you havn´t downloaded all the instructions for the 2012 BOM - don´t forget to do that before the end of this year - even if you don´t have a chance to make it now (i think the previous year´s couple of BOMs were available till sometime in january - but to be on the safe side - make a half hour available before the year is out - it is an absolute beauty and you might just decide that this is your perfect 2015 project
