Please share your different background fabrics

I have ordered the Marcia Derse fabric for the background, but it won't come in until at least late February. I'm thinking of using something different. If you're using a different background fabric, please show me! I need ideas!

GreenQUILTS, it should be easy to see all the backgrounds Quilter's are using by going to all the posts in the post area For Small House 1 and 2. You will need to scroll back thru the pages. There is quite a variety from light to dark. You also get the benefit of seeing how that background looks behind the houses they have built. Also, if you have ordered the fabric and really love that look you, since the background is the last two pieces you could build all of the house except the last 2 pieces. Another idea would be to use two backgrounds. Buy enough fabric (2yards) that complements the Derse fabric. Use it for thr Mariners Compass background and small houses background. That would get you thru March when we do small house 3 and 4. HelenW

I too am still waiting for my Art History background to arrive. I have almost completed all my House 1 and 2 and will add the background when it arrives. I am considering opting for a different background in the Mariner's compass. It is a Timeless Treasures white with silver dots. It may be too white against the Marcia Derse fabric. I shall post some photos later for advice

I’m still deciding, I like the sky blue for the little houses but want something different for the compass, big houses & outside edges. Here’s a couple of possibilities

I'm going to use a sky blue and paint some clouds on after it is all together.

I'm going to use the light fabric for the inner circle and the Blue for the outer circle and border.

The Mariners compass takes 1/3 yard. Pick a background out for that and start it February 1st. If you get your fabric in February, you can do the houses. They are addictive so in two days you can finish them. I could do one in 30 minutes or less once I had everything cut up. Then if you change your mind about the Mariners compass do it again.

I am using a fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics called Everlasting Imprint Kushukuria b/c I like a busy background, but wanted the piecing to stand out more than what was allowed with the Durst fabric in the pattern (which I LOVED, just wanted less "busy")

It takes a little less than 1/3 but that is safe for planning purposes.

This is a possibility for background. It is a close up photo - so the 'pattern' is smaller than it appears. What do you think?
