    Thread

I really need to buy more thread for my quilting (piecing and applique, not actual quilting). I am looking for suggestions for brand, cotton vs. poly or blend, weight, etc. I realize this is a tall order but I am sure people have brands that they can recommend. Thanks!

When I ordered my kit, I also ordered the add a quarter ruler and the confetti threads. I paid for all three of these items. Watching Barbara's video today, it sounds like two spools of thread were also supposed to come included in the kit along with the two boxes of bias tape. Is this correct?

Hi Casciamom. I am using Aurifil. They are quite light, but if I cut the thread too long for applique it tangles quite easily. I have not learned to cut short lengths - slow learner. I am sure there are other brands out there that are just as easy to use like Gutterrman. Jessie

            .

Sewjuki, I wouldn't do that. I don't think it's designed for piecing. I think you can try a sample; just sew two pieces of fabric together and give it a tug to see if it comes apart. I think it will . HelenW

I want to order the thread kit but it is out of stock. Can you post which threads are in the kit (color/weight) and how many spools of each we will need for this quilt?

Barbara (bbquiltmaker) left a link to the kit below. If you go there you will get information on thread color and weight.

I received four different colors, two 60 wt and two 80 weight. I guess I am clueless, but what do I use these four different threads for?

The threads in the Kit are for piecing. 60 wt in the top, 80 wt in the bobbin. Use any colors you prefer for piecing. I use gray or tan almost exclusively

Ok, but with four colors, I will need to use one color on top and a different color in the bobbin. But, it doesn’t seem to make much difference.
