I heard from Pam last night that they have identified her DH's infection as coming from his gall bladder, and they put him on different antibiotics, to which he seemed to be responding. Her DIL is also responding to treatment, but both still have a ways to go, and removing the gall bladder is apparently still being considered for both of them. Haven't heard anything today, yet, though, so please keep the prayers going for Pam and her family.

Well that was a very busy and stressful week. DDIL was expecting to have surgery to remove her gall bladder and stones yesterday, then bumped to todays surgery list due to other emergency cases, then bumped off that. So she was finally discharged today with pain meds and is now home with her boys and will have surgery in about 6 weeks time. DH Pete is expecting to be discharged in a couple of days and was told today that they will probably remove his gall bladder at a later date to prevent a reoccurrence. He is sleeping a lot at the moment, but I think that that is just probably natures way of healing the body.

I am now enjoying my first evening at for a week.

Thank you for all your prayers and love.

Thank you all for your prayers. Pete was discharged from hospital late on Monday and is home slowly recovering and now only on mild pain killers. I am so glad to get him off of morphine. DDIL Sheri is still battling her infection at home and really struggling with her 2 small boys. The 4 year old started school today. With DH to care for I am not able to do much to help her and my son had to go back to work this week. Please keep her in your prayers.

                Thank you.

Prayers needed for my younger brother who is in the final stage of Parkinson's, that they will be able to control his meds and his wife will find good home health care for him so she can keep her job. I finished his quilt just in time.

This is trivial in comparison but I need my right thumb to heal after cutting all of those rag quilts, especially the last one which gave me much pain but it had to be done. I'm guessing I irritated a very old injury from my school years. I spent lots of time cutting rag quilts 10 years ago and never had any problems. An injury to a tendon in my right arm last spring took several months to heal, possibly because I couldn't or wouldn't stop using it. I hope this one heals quicker. I won't be using scissors for awhile but I can still use a rotary cutter. And I can still get up and down from the floor. Life is good!

Continued prayers for all who are in need.

I'm praying for both of you and the situation to be resolved with the healthcare.

So according to an internet search it looks like I have trigger thumb. I'm not supposed to let it "pop" so am reevaluating my priority list. At least I got a lot done this past week, but I have a quilt show to get ready for and a retreat group coming in a couple weeks. Definitely don't want surgery so will do whatever it takes for faster healing.

My brother goes into assisted living this week. We're hoping for a smooth transition.

Annis, I have stage 5 arthritis in both thumbs which hurt like the dickens with some activities, or for no reason at all. Get thumb braces! You may have to get them through the doctor to have them fit right, but wearing them for even a short time relieves pain. They also stop improper movement. Hope you get better soon.

Annis, I just bought a special rotary cuter designed for people with arthritis and/or carpel tunnel etc. you can order them from Martelli in Florida. I learned about it by working on the Becolourful quilt with K DeJong currently on our site.

I am wearing a thumb stabilizer part of the time, but it does get in the way occasionally. I will try to wear it more now that I know what's going on. I was hoping I could just work the soreness out but guess that wasn't a good idea. I am familiar with the Martelli rotary cutter. I tried it out a few years ago but wasn't sure that it would work for me. I may give it another try when I go to Houston quilt festival. I'm taking the Sunday bus trip again.
