Thank you Ritzy and Lynn for your "sage" advice and words of wisdom to Kalynn about her DD Chelsea's recurring dental infection. It's a great reminder to all of us about how antibiotics are affecting our immune systems. Thanx, Ladies! Am praying that Chelsea gets the medical treatment she needs to get well ASAP.
    Blessings,
    Shirley

this is my third attempt - I keep losing internet connection. So to keep it short.....
      1. Thank you for all the prayers for Chelsea and please keep them coming. Things are bad. I'll try to explain later.
      2. Thanks to all of you also who have offered specific suggestions as we are trying to put those into place.
      3. Please know that I am praying for all of the other needs listed as well. You all are like extended family to me.

Thanks everyone for the prayers and suggestions. Here is an update.
I drove to Winston-Salem late Thursday night in order to go with her to the appointment with the oral surgeon there the next morning. Her oral surgeon in Hendersonville had spoken with him and the two of them had reached a conclusion and he called and told her that she should keep that appointment and let him check her again and discuss options. I asked her if I could be present and she agreed. (She is trying so hard to be independant.)
After seeing her and meeting the doctor and hearing his opinion, I feel much better about things. First of all, Chelsea doesn't look sick. That was very encouraging to me. I don't mean to minimize her pain, but by my way of thinking, the infection couldn't be in her blood stream or anything major like that if she looked so healthy. I don't know if there's any scientific reality to that statement or not but I felt better. Second, the doctor did seem to be competent and was very nice in answering all my questions.
The recommendation; however, was that she have the exploratory surgery. The doctor there is convinced that there is some dead bone or something causing the swelling and pain and thinks (finally!) that after 2 months of antibiotic, it's time for action. Chelsea was given the choice of letting him do it there or coming back home and letting the original oral surgeon do it. She prefers the original doctor. And since I will be the one playing "nurse" again, the home field will be easier for me. They want to do it Monday afternoon. That meant she had to get a bunch of lesson plans ready for whoever would be her substitute, plus call the church (where she had just Thursday been hired to work a part-time temp job starting Monday) to tell them she couldn't start Monday and doesn't know when she will be able to start. I felt like I needed to get out of her way so I just came on down to Durham since I was closer to there than home, and have been visiting with my parents. Tomorrow I will go and pick her up in Winston-Salem on my way back home. (we both thought it would be best for her to leave her car at her condo since we didn't know if she'd really feel up to making a 3 hour drive alone)
She has been told that as far as the recovery goes, it will be like starting over after the original surgery, or maybe longer. Just please pray that this surgery will do the trick. Pray they find the source of the infection and that she will heal quickly and completely this time around.
Thank you so much for being there for us through this. Your support means more than I can tell you. Sorry this was so long, but I just seem incapable of making a long story short!

I'll be praying very specifically on Monday for Chelsea. May God guide the surgeon and bring relief and healing to Chelsea. Strength for you. xoxo

So good to hear what is thought to be going on and to know there is a potential remedy in place. It sounds good. I'm glad it was a long explanations. That way it answered all MY questions too! God Bless as you walk this journey with her. Sometimes they just need Mom!

I am in Houghton, NY for a wedding this weekend and met a person today that reminded me to thank God for answered prayer. Remember way back when I asked you all to pray for my DD Melinda while she interviewed for Teach for America? She was not chosen for that position but today I met the person who was. He is very happy in Mississippi. Melinda during the last couple of weeks has had her prayers answered with a position in Journey's End Refugee Services in Buffalo NY as an ESL teacher and in an administrative position as well. She started her first day as a part-time employee with Journey's End and was asked if she would like the position that had just opened up and could she start the next day! If someone were to ask her what her dream job would be she would tell you it is exactly what she has been hired to do. God knew her heart and gave her the job that is her heart's desire. Thank God for answered prayer! She is in the midst of a housing situation that involves two other housemates. They had an apartment picked out and when we drove up to move her in the dwelling was unsuitable for living, so they have temporary housing elsewhere until they find somewhere to live. Melinda is so confident God will provide a place for them and the joy of answered prayer helps give all three hope for what's next.
                              Blessings,
                              Jane

Jane, what a testimony! Thanks for sharing that here. Isn't it great when God allows us to see the reasons. If I could just be better about trusting Him when he chooses not to reveal His reasons!
I will be praying for the perfect housing situation for Melinda and her housemates. That hits very close to home for me because of us moving Chelsea to her condo and finding it in a disgusting condition. (Can't remember if I blogged about that or not but I think I did). The Good Lord worked that out, too, of course. I was thrilled to see the condo yesterday in a very clean, unsmelly, very livable state.
