Damaris, I'm glad to hear he's doing so much better. That pain can be overwhelming. I'm also PTL for doctors, dentists, etc who can attend to these frail bodies!

I had my chest x-ray yesterday and I'm waiting for a phone call to tell me if it was clear or not. I also had a physical yesterday and seem to be in pretty good shape (for the shape I'm in), but one of the numbers for my kidney function was not good, and as I only have one left, I would appreciate your prayers that He would see fit to heal whatever problem is going on there. The nurse practitioner said it could simply be dehydration.

Yes, Marguerita, a bad UTI can cause all kinds of difficulties with thinking and stability as we get older. They taught us in nursing school that whenever an 'older' (aren't we all getting there!) patient starts acting unusual, one of the first things to think about was UTI.

Glad they picked up on that and got you treated!

It looks like there's a "theme" here. Tomorrow my 2-year-old Morgan goes to the doctor to check on her kidney reflux. She was diagnosed with it at 9 months after suffering a UTI and has been on daily doses of antibiotics ever since as a preventative measure. (The antibiotics are given to make sure she doesn't happen to get an infection which could permanently damage her kidneys. Surgery is an option for more severe cases and would be a last resort, but we're just waiting to see if she grows out of it instead.) They test yearly to see if her kidneys are functioning "normally" yet and at last year's appointment, they determined that one of her kidneys is now fine. So hopefully this year they will find that the other one has fixed itself as well. I know we're seeing the doctor tomorrow, but I'm not sure if she will have the actual (and invasive) test tomorrow or not. I'd appreciate prayers for Morgan and for all the other children that I see in the waiting room at the children's hospital office where we have to go.

I am catching up on the details of the Forum, but have prayed for our TQS prayer list requests every day! You and your requests are all in my prayers.

My uncle was back in the hospital again (was checked in the same day that my Aunt had to handle moving out of their home of 20 years into a smaller townhome that they moved into! YEEKS!!!) He was out of the hospital in a couple days! And started daily chemo treatment yesterday. All is going ok so far.

Thanks to all of you who include others in your prayer list!

                  God Bless!

Bridget, you probably won't see this until you get back from your daughter's check-up, but I am praying that there is continued healing in that little girl's body. I'm praying for you, too! It's not easy seeing your child go thru health problems. Years ago (eons) we were in that children's hospital with our eldest daughter. I know what you mean - there's so much suffering in those young lives.

I need to PTL with you folks and thank you for praying for me. I got word today that my xray came back normal. (In this case, it's more than a setting on the washing machine!) I am thankful. Now just 4 more years to go! But God is good. He will see me thru whatever.

Mary Kay, your uncle and aunt have been thru so much, yet have quite a journey ahead of them yet. I continue to pray for them as well.

Also Ann Snowplow - chronic illness is difficult! God is sustaining you.

SewAngel - what happened with your daughter's foot injury? Waiting to hear, and still praying.

Thank you so much for all your prayers and good wishes. Morgan ended up having her tests today and we got to see the doctor right afterward. She still has reflux in one of her kidneys but it is not as bad as it was last year. We can either keep her on antibiotics for another year and hope for more improvement or have an endoscopic procedure done to most likely fix the problem for good. She is currently sitting on the couch playing her guitar and singing something about pigs so she's obviously feeling a little better! My husband and I now have some research to do. Thank you all for your prayers and know that I keep you all in my prayers as well.

Linda, that is a huge praise!!! Bridget, I'll be praying for God to show you the right route to go. So glad it's not worse, though.

TQS members -- thanks for the questions re: Laura's foot. The doc requested a bone scan and she had it done on Monday. If it comes back positive - meaning a stress fracture -there will not be surgery but probably cast it and on crutches and therapy and start healing, which will be slow.

If it comes back negative the plate will be taken out asap, and she will still be on crutches and no weight for probably 4 months. Either way she will red shirt this season -- I know the results are back because I called the nurse and we are just waiting for the doc to call.

We do know from past experience that she heals very slowly and she just wants the pain gone. If there is no surgery we will also look into acupuncture.

Thank you all for thinking of our family. I am always thinking of your requests. Have you all noticed how much closer and closer we are all getting.

Finally a chance to get on here and let you all know my Dad's hip replacement surgery went REALLY well, and he's doing so well that he came home from the hospital yesterday! He's on several pain meds but rarely takes the narcotic ones, only before the exercises so he can get thru them! He was up and walking on Tuesday morning, they ask the patients to walk as far as they can towards therapy, then they'll wheel them the rest of the way... he walked the WHOLE way & later did the whole way back. I think our challenge will be slowing him down! He's a lifelong tennis player and everyone's predicting he'll be back on the courts in 3 months, I don't know if he'll be able to stand that long (b/c he's been off already for over 6 months w/ the hip deteriorating) Anyway, my brother is in town to take care of him so that's taken some of the burden off me too. So thank you all for your prayers and know that I've kept you in mine as well.
Mom's doing about the same, although her white counts finally made it over the "less than 50" count, all the way up to 70.... (normal is about 5000-10,000!!) so a long way to go, but at least climbing!

Hi All -- well the bone scan came back negative -- so now Laura needs to decide how badly she wants the plate out of her foot. It will be her decision.

Does anyone have any experience with acupuncture? We are thinking of trying that before a decision is made about surgery.
