All your quilts are so beautiful. I really admire your dedication to sticking to one quilt and keeping record to how many hours you spend on them. I have several going and have them stashed at various areas so that I can work on them depending on where they are in construction. That and where my body is at as far as pain tolerance. Good luck with that boarder

I should have NOT DONE ANY SEWING TODAY, cause I screwed everything up....

I ran out of fabric to make my borders because I cut them wrong. I had bought the last two yards of a really pretty black with gold fabric but I made so many mistakes cutting that I wasted a lot and am short by 16 inches ... I had wanted to make a mitered border.

      http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/...57356579KzwGJh

I spent the night trying different methods to salvage the middle border and can not come up with anything I like... I think I am going to sleep on it.

I started tracking my time spent on sewing because last spring after my mom's passing I got really depressed and would say I was just tooooo tired to do anything... I have been trying to convince myself that it does not take as much time as I think it does to make a quilt. So I started logging the actual time I take to sew and when I compare the time spent sewing I can see for myself it is not that much time... I am hoping it will inspire me to finish more projects.

Congratulations Eileen. I was able to assemble the small fan blocks for the baby quilt yesterday. Today I was able to sew down all the pieces on the fabric portrait using a freemotion straight stich, now it is ready for the zig zag blending and thread painting. This is the part that I am getting nervous about ruining the portrait.
I'll probably turn blue while holding my breath. Cheryl

            Cheryl,
It will turn out better if you breathe.

Frances you are absolutely right I just had this vision of poor cheryl passed out on the floor under her machine with this great big goose egg on her head, face blue as can be from not be. With a head line in the news paper that reads Quilter is SEW dead from anticipation. Cheryl breathe you will do sew much better.

Spent a couple of hours in my sewing room today. Took pictures of my current project and of Brandi's so we can enter them in the show. Also took a picture of a quilt that just needs the binding that I may put in the show. I will probably take another picture of the current project tomorrow though because I got the blocks done tonight. They are on the wall and it looks good. I have to be careful sewing them together because there are six blocks each of six colors. There is one of each color in each row and each column so I can't get them mixed up. I have quilt bee on Friday, I'm trying to decided if it will be a good idea to take this to work on or if I'm asking for trouble taking them off the wall to take them somewhere else to sew them together. Probably will take something else to work on.

Okay, I was breathing today, and i'm not thilled with the threadpainting. I leave for Pa to my sisters house tomorrow, so I will see what she thinks. My DS is who got me roped into this quilting thing 8years ago, so she can dig me out of trouble.

Sorry Ladies, no EMT's on this street today. And tomorrow's headlines will be the usual stuff. Gas, Fires, and Huricanes brewing in the Atlantic. OH! And lets not forget the men in tight shorts racing in the Tour De France.

Hope you all have a great weekend, and I'll be peaking in. Cheryl

Got more done today! Spent about an hour or so upstairs and got my blocks sewn into rows. Took another picture. I'm going to quilt bee tomorrow working on a challenge for my bee. We are making "crumb" blocks. You use your scraps to make fabric and cut out the squares from those. We are doing an exchange of these blocks the first Friday of August, so I better get mine done. May not get much else done this weekend as we are working at the theater tomorrow and Saturday night and ushering for the movies on Sunday.

                      Cheryl,
Did you go to PA on Rt 84? If you did, you drove near me!!! I live 2 miles off Exit 5 in NY.
I sewed yesterday on my longarm. Great thing is-I worked on my own piece!!!
I wrote about it over in the Artist's Way forum and posted a link to the pic of the quilt I'm working on. I'm hoping to get more of it done today.

 Golly Gee, I too was out to lunch, I thought everyone one was talking about thread. Like new thread is not confusing. But I read through, wow  , you ladies are amazing. If you don't mind I like to join in also.
ops: This might get the lard out of my body and move. Although , lately, I have had to get projects done for our local quilt show. I have completed one small whitework, and one small wall hanging that I started when I went to Irena Bluhmes class. And now I have to put the binding on my son's tshirt quilt. I will post pictures by the end of the month. But I do have to start a wedding gift in August.
I usually have a needle and thread in my hand everyday, but it is not always for me, generally they are customer quilts.
                        8) Today, I finished a customer's quilt 60 by 80. But tomorrow dh will be home and we have to install a new tv for him. So that will be an all weekend project, (does anyone else have a dh who turns in Mr. Hyde when you put a tool in his hands)  thanks for letting me talk. debbie

Well I got a couple of hours in at quilt bee today and got started on my crumb blocks. Boy they are addicting. But it's also a lot of fun. When I have some done, I'll post pictures.

I hope you all don't mind me popping in here because I'm not doing the book but find this thread so fascinating. I came across a Youtube video that was referenced on Piece of Cake blob on the creative process by Ira Glass who has a NPR show. I thot you all might be interested in this.

I have a hubby that turns into a Mr. Hyde when I get a tool in my hand. Does that count? All the tools have mysteriously disappeared at our home and the garage has a new lock on it this summer. No one will give me the combination to  Everytime I mention fixing something a new quilt magazine makes it way into my hands or new fabric is bought. So I guess I am benefitting. I broke my other sewing machine so now both of them need to go and get fixed. I have 2 quilts that are in the final stages. Maybe needed 10 more minutes of machine time and done. But the kids opened the table and the machine fell between the opening. Now something is rattling inside. Sounds funny when I sew. So I don't. :? It will have to wait until next weeks paycheck to get fixed. So I will work on cutting out my next projects That way they will be ready to go. That and I will get some more Ironing done  (I hate ironing) Plus I have been haveing issues with this one quilt block pattern maybe I can figure that out. Has anyone ever used thangles?

I had my own home before I married my current DH and use to fix everything in it... right or wrong. I think I own more tools then my DH and those he does own I bought for him. He does most of the repair work but I put my hands in it too. Too be honest we would have a nicer job if we hired the jobs done... but who can afford that!

Sewing.. I got my border on with setting corners just need to sew on the final border but that might have to wait until tomorrow.
