I finished piecing my Civil War quilt with drunkard's path blocks. It is a queen size and then went looking for borders in red and blue fabric. Also bought flannel fabric for my DS's quilt. Spent way too much $. Before I went I had to get gas to the tune of $55 to fill up the tank. :cry: Judy in AZ who will not shop the rest of July

I finally got my friend's signature quilt done yesterday. Hope to get it to her today. Bought some new fabric at JoAnn's the other day with my DD and we are both making something different with the same fabrics. We saw the fabric in Visual Quilter's blog of 6/26. We will post pictures when we get some stuff done.

I have been working on the piecing and quilting that will be the fabric for a jacket for my mother. The piecing was boring, just sewing 4 inch blocks together. Now I am quilting a cross hatch grid on the sandwich. That is also boring. It is really going to be gorgeous when it's done but I sure wouldn't do it again. Anyway I was sewing straight lines like crazy yesterday and just needed to do something else. When I was down in Houston, my friend and I did the quilt shop hop (BOM). It dawned on me that doing a block from that would be a nice break. So block one of that BOM is done. I feel really good about what I accomplished. Gloria

I am going to sew pieces on a customer's backing. She made it long enough but not wide enough. So I went out and bought the fabric, washed it and am now going to put it together. The alternative was that she wanted to take the quilt top and just "slice some off"!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eileen, Just slice some off! She must have been abducted by aliens and they must still have her brain. :shock: Good luck and GOD bless you for having your's. Well over the weekend my sweet hubby followed through and bought me my new fabric and even put more that I wanted aside in the quilt shop that I go to for next week. Thank God the owner understands about my check situation and is so sweet. I started the Orion Star quilt. He still thinks that I am only doing maybe 3-4 well now 4-5 quilt projects. 8) . I am not telling him otherwise. What I do know is I have quite a bit done on my cathedral window quilt and need to get more black fabric. I just wish that I had someplace where I could leave things out longer and set up. What takes the time is tearing down and setting up. My sewing room has been taken over by the boys instruments and amps. I can't even move in there now. Rachel

Rachel,
I took over the foyer of my house! When people come in the front door, they are literally in my sewing room. It does help me to keep it a little cleaner. haha
Is there a corner anywhere, even in a family area or the basement, that you could set up a table? That's what I did once I decided that I was tired of setting up and breaking down on a daily basis.
Maybe if you and hubby do an actual diagram of your floor plan. That's what we did and how we came up with the front room(foyer).

well I didn't use needle and thread yesterday but I spent time on the computer with EQ6 planning out my next quilt. This time I scanned the fabric and put the actual fabric that I will be using in the design. I did two in the early evening. Then I e-mailed them to my son. Then when I couldn't sleep last night, I did another layout that I like a lot better. When I was almost ready to go to sleep at 1 am, my daughter came in to see what I was doing still up. She had a small change suggestion so I now have 4 different layouts to choose from. My DD has the same fabric so today we're going to play with her layout on EQ.

Well I am having my 4th of July today... been cooking up a storm yesterday and today. The kids are coming over to eat around 6pm... Everything is ready for BBQ. Just need to clean the living room.... I plan to do some sewing after the kids leave. If I do not faint from exhaustion.

I did work on my center design medallion for my quilt. It is giving me fits... but I think I finally have it figured out.

I spent a good part of Friday and Saturday working at my GF quilt shop... (Yes it was open on the 4th ... since the parade goes right past the shop she get a lot of foot traffic while people wait... the women usually come back for another look at a later time when the family / husband is not dragging behind them. We have the added advantage of prime seats for the parade.


We are planning the annual quilt show for this September. She picked out the cutest fabric for the challenge. I also pitched a couple ideas for the rules. I am hoping we will donate the quilts (from our group, at least) to Alzheimer Research. ... .. It would be fun.

I'm still plugging away at the binding on the raffle quilt. I'll post when I'm done. I'm totally boring myself writing about it every day.

I finished piecing a baby quilt top. Our group is doing charity quilts on our first meeting of the month, after we have our business meeting. On Thursday, I picked some coordinating fabrics, from our groups supply, and brought it home as I did not have my Sewing machine with me. The fabrics I selected (3) - I have enough of one of them for the back of the quilt, and another one to do the binding. With a bit left over from all 3, so it was a good selection,

Then I have been working on my BOM too.

YEAH! I did it. I managed to get into my sewing room and finish piecing the center of the baby quilt, and also prepare the small fans for the outer edge. That will have to wait until tomorrow. Mall shopping trip with a friend and DD. Cheryl

I am doing a quilt in a day project for one of my lawyers. I just found that his 4year old daughter is in the hospital having all sorts of nasty test being done on her tomarrow. Fortunately I had some large blocks setting around left over from a previous quilt. That and some fabric that matched. It really worked out well. Sometimes it pays to over purchase just because you have a coupon and a little extra money. :lol: It was originally the material for a raffle quilt. But there was so much left over that I could make 3 quilts. I'll try to post a photo when I am done. Rachel

Well I actually got to sew for 3 hours tonight without interuption... I sewed the strips to a border I was planning for my Christmas Qult. I would have gotten futher if I had not changed my mind about how I was going to put it together and what size to make the boarders.

I have been working on this quilt for 6 months... I have kept a log and I actually spent only 27 hours of sewing on the quilt. I need to do more sewing and less waiting for the right time to work on things.

I am going to make a vow that I WILL GET THE BORDERS SEWN ON AND THIS QUILT TO THE QUILTERS THIS WEEK.

THE new technique I am currently learning is making this a mitered boarder. I think it will be really beautiful if I can get this done correctly.
