So sorry your quilt did 't make the top spot, Rosemary - but it certainly got noticed! Looking forward to seeing the pictures. :silly: :P :silly:
Big hugs to you and Lorchen! Fabric shopping is always a good idea, says the queen of the stash...
Definitely more than one lifetime's supply here - sssssssh - don't tell anyone. Some wierdos think i should open a fabric shop
I'm loving all these beautiful quilts and beaches that have appeared in the last couple of days :woohoo: :woohoo:
Off to my last day of work before vacation - hope to actually get some of the mess in this household sorted... Or quilt

I finished my goal of 3 red and white wall hangings this week, barely. I thought I'd have a few hours to spare but that water drip I'd been hearing finally showed up on the carpet. Time to turn the AC off and get the drain unclogged. My nephew came to the rescue and got it going again. At least it was late in the day and didn't have time to get too hot in my sewing room. Must have AC on these 100+ days.

The quilt on the right took the place of the New York Beauty. You really didn't think I was going to make one of those did you!!! Anyway I remembered finding this block in EQ and wanted to try it out. I didn't want all of those seams in the background and I didn't want to do any inset seams so I redrew the block to eliminate those. I did have some partial seam piecing to do but that goes pretty quickly.

Next week my goal is to make the last 2 quilts. The fabric is already chosen for the Double Wedding Ring. I still need to draw the templates, but may let EQ do that for me. I will be using my Sew-on-the-Line method for the hexagon quilt. I tried this a few years ago and got a few rows done. These have 1" sides so 2" sides should be quite easy in comparison. I am determined this time to have a finished hexie quilt. Back around 1980 I cut many hexagons for what was supposed to be a reversible grandmother's flower garden quilt and made a few blocks. I was making them like little pillows, fabric on both sides with batting in the middle, sewn leaving an opening then turned inside out. Then they had to be hand sewn together on both sides which took way more time than I had so I gave the pieces for the back of the quilt to my sister and the rest of the pieces are still waiting to be used. I haven't given up on them yet.

Our quilt guild is having their real retreat this weekend. I believe I'm getting more done at this virtual retreat, no packing and no travel time, etc.

I do love your red and white quilts.

I love your hexies too. Have you told us about your sew on the line method?
          Keep cool!

              Annis,
Thanks for showing the block and the quilt drawings from EQ. I have that program too and love popping fabrics or color ways into it to see if I would get the desired results. I'm hoping to utilize the quilting portion of the program with my new longarm. Oh, the ideas that can keep a girl awake at night!!!
I'm starting to think more along the two color theme method, since seeing all your red and white pieces. I have a lot of black and browns that would make up into a very masculine looking quilt. Something that you really don't see a lot of. And my Grandsons are turning 16, 13, 12, and 5. So at least three are starting to look for something that's a bit more mature. Time will tell if I put another project, or three on my list!!

Wendy, I have some free instructions and templates of my Sew-on-the-Line on my website. I haven't updated it since 2012 so there are no hexies there yet. I'm hoping to start back doing tutorials soon, at least 1 per month. Since I can't seem to find the time to learn how to do videos, I will be doing PDF files for awhile. If we ever get settled in our new home maybe there will be more time for the videos I've been wanting to do.

Luann, I have 7 grandsons ages 1 thru 13. They don't get many quilts from me though. Black and brown quilts sound interesting. I'm working on a twin size quilt for the youngest this year.

Congratulations, Rosemary! That's a great honor and you should be very proud!

Beautiful red/white quilts, Annis, and I love the start of the hexis quilt! That will be a stunner if you have time it finish it.

Rosemary, your quilt is a winner! We all "worked" with you on it, so we know first hand.

Annis, your red quilts are terrific. I love how they all look so different in the same colorway.

Thanks for the comments about my grandson. He is a cutie and such fun. I love being graneva.

I finished the little mug rug for my dau in law. She loves Paris and I found some fabric with the Eiffel Tower on it. Used some scraps laying about on the table. My other dau in law received a birthday card with the little Eiffel Tower charm on it and gifted it to me for the mug rug. I love making these little guys.

                    Here is the back

Does anyone want some of my Dots? They are great for getting stuck in your teeth! ops: That way they last longer!

Have a good day and weekend end. Keep us posted Rosemary on the show and Lorchen.

I'll take some of those Dots, Geneva. I buy them once a year in a mixed package of candy for Halloween. My DDIL likes them too so have to share. Once quite a few years ago I was given a large package with individual packages inside. I ate them for several days and thought they didn't taste quite like normal. Then I woke up with a bad case of vertigo (at least I think that's what it was) which lasted for several days. I was home by myself and it was late afternoon of each day before I could actually function. I ended up throwing the rest of the candy away. I haven't had that to happen to me since and have no idea if the candy was the cause, but it's a strange feeling not being able to lift your head off the pillow without feeling like you're going to pass out.

I'll live recklessly pass the dots.

Thanks Annis I'm quite taken with hexies since making some for this years BOM, I'll take a look.

Love the French mug rug Geneva.

I've been out of action for a few days after getting cellulitis in my hand and arm from a cat bite. I only wanted to shut her away safe while the builders were here. I have sparkly new bathroom, out with the burgundy bath and pink tiles yuk! Hand mending ready for the quick draw with the credit card at the Festival of Quilts tomorrow. I shall be admiring your commendation Rosemary B) B) B) :woohoo:

Just back from FoQ. The 1st, 2nd & 3rd placed ones were beautiful - I don't mind being beaten by them. Wendy you will love Phillipa Naylor's one, which unfortunately was unplaced because it was too big

Lorchan loved all of her pressies  and told me to chase her up if you don't see her here in the next few weeks. I explained that we were doing all of our socialising here in the forum, and not using the community section, as we found it easier here. She has a great project on the go for Southwell Cathedral, but it is needed to be finished in quite a tight deadline for the size.

I have bought fabrics for Terrie's mystery quilt - should be interesting, one of the fabric I pulled from the stash is a real wild card and my highlight fabric is certainly that B) By the way I left the list of quantities for it with Lorchan and depending on circumstances she might join in. She was asking how frequently we would be getting the clues and all I could say was that it was a 'mystery' at the moment.

I have also bought some fabric for a convergence quilt, it has been on my bucket list for a few years now, and I saw someone buying the perfect batiks for it, so I had some of the same and a couple of others to have a play with.

Sorry no photos, just haven't the time before we go away - you will have to wait for Wendy's trip.

PS I also chased Pam Day to give us a few moments of her computer time, instead of spending it all on fb.

Good Girl, Rosemary, you've done us proud!
And, sorry Philippa, but if Rosemary's quilt was not placed for an award, I'm glad yours wasn't either!
I'll really have to look at that mystery quilt now... With everyone joining in I also want to play
No choccies for me tonight, but just home from a great Thai meal with my friends Daniela, Claudia and claudia'd doggie, 'Minou'

Good night and have a great weekend
