Ann, we normally meet just inside the entrance between were they take your ticket and the Quilters Guild stand at 1pm. I will post nearer the time.

If anyone can recommend any restaurants that are accessible for those without transport I would be grateful.

In leafy Berkshire, south of England.

This is my entry for FoQ. I am putting it here so as not to hijack Jacqueline deJonge's thread. It's a wall hanging and is going in under the contemporary quilt section. Getting excited about FoQ now.

Wow, Rita went modern! Very nice! I'm eye-balling some modern quilts because the next generation in my family doesn't care for "flowery" whatever that means. Have a great time at FOQ!

That is beautiful, Rita! It catches my eye for the elements and principles of design, it really jumps out and grabs me! I can hear it whispering, "Fairfax, Fairfax County... I've always wanted to come to Fairfax..." ... and I'm pretty certain there's no "Fairfax, Ireland!"   Wonderful quilt--many will enjoy it at the show!

I've just been reading one of Elizabeth Barton's books on art quilt design, and in it she speaks to slicing a quilt diagonally, sometimes even slicing it a few times to give it movement. Your quilt does just that--the diagonal slice in your quilt gives movement to it in an an exciting way. Well done!

Thanks folks. Renata I am very pleased to know that I am doing something right! It came from a series of drawings that I did one day when I was bored. I liked that one because I found it pleasing to my eye so decided to try to make it into a wall hanging. I didn't realize how much negative space I was leaving to have to quilt though.

Rita, I love it! Your quilting is awesome. Can't wait to see it.

I also felt bad about hijacking the other thread.

So does anyone else have a quilt in the show that I need to look for?

Thanks Lorna. I am really looking forward to seeing yours in full living colour too! I remember seeing a photo of that quilt while you were working on it. It looks amazing, can't wait to see it quilted.

Lorna's quilt was pretty spectacular when I last saw it - on the floor, I think in her sewing room, looking forward to seeing it at the show.

I started paying more attention to modern quilts after watching the Jacquie Gering show. Rita, yours is a simple design but so very striking. Your quilting just perfectly fits the design. Did you use your walking foot primarily then free motion the fillers? What thread did you use in the top and bottom? I just bought a Platinum 16 and am in the "practice a lot" stage. I really, really like your quilt. Bet it wins a ribbon!
