Well done, Geneva. Don't you just love those kinds of quilt shops where you can find almost any kind of fabric. I'm sure your son will love this muggie.

Nor my husband he said they were the most pointless things I'd made then proceeded to tell me off for putting a cup of coffee on one in case I got it dirty

My husband doesn't understand my stash. That's okay - I don't understand why we have 12 bird feeders and have to feed all the birds and deer in the neighborhood.

Would you like a mug rug from Virginia? I would like to exchange with you.

I made a mug rug for my other son awhile ago. I probably posted a picture here sometime. Anyway, this son is a CPA and I found fabric with money all over it. I sewed a big dollar sign on the front over the money fabric and quilted it. Andy loved it! I was at his office a few months ago and there was the mug rug, with his coffee sitting on top of it. I was so happy to see him use it. Heck, if it gets too dirty, I'll make him another one.

So, as we all know, some quilts are to be used and worn out and some quilts are to be saved for ancestors. It's making sure the people who receive our quilts know the difference.

Yup, I love it when things are used.

My hubby recently retired and in one of the boxes brought home from his office had a mug rug in it that I made ages ago. I even forgot that I had made it. He told me he used it every day at work for his mug, and now it's on the table beside 'his' spot in the living room. Still using it.

Our guild annual quilt show this weekend. This is when the merchants come to us!! This will test my resolve not to buy any new fabric. However, there are a few notions that I want/need. Like an add-a-quarter ruler - a long one. And maybe some FMQ gloves.

It is nice when things that are made to be used, are used.

                          Enjoy your weekend, Terrie.

                            Terrie -

I use cheap gardening gloves for quilting. I use the ones that look like someone stuck the palms and fingers in rubber. They were very cheap (something like $10 for 6 pairs at Costco) and they work great.

I use gardening gloves also. They are light-weight and they breathe. I have worn out two pairs now.

Geneva, what a delightful mug rug. I really like how you worked the letter "M" in the concept, subtle but "there!" Great job!
