Perseverance! That is my method. I was determined not to be beat by that little star. Now if I can do it again when I get ready to do the "L" block, I will be a happy girl. Of course, I guess it will depend on the size I need for said block.

Yep--that was the one I had the problems with--good thing I have friends to help.

Remember on the next one to use a thread color to match the fabrics and a shorter stitch length, maybe a 1.0. Less chance that it will show on the front. You can always darken the thread that shows on the dark colors with a pigma marker but it's hard to lighten dark thread that shows on the light colors. When you're sewing on fabrics with very different values it's sometimes hard to pick a thread color. I usually use one not much darker than the lightest fabric. Also make sure your tension is good by testing on fabric with the paper you will be using.

Those teeny tiny diamonds are amazing! I really like the quilting motif you chose too.

Thanks Annis. I used a 1.5 stitch length but there was enough time between the first half being done and the second being done that I didn't check the thread I used. Big mistake. The first half the thread doesn't show so when I do the one for the letter "L" I will be sure to make sure my thread is not a problem.

Ooooh! Look at the beautiful surprises I got in my mailbox yesterday from Geneva!!

Isn't the mug rug beautiful!! It's a simple design, but the colors and the workmanship make it just stunning!! The gold is a couched thread that is so perfectly straight that I have no idea how she accomplished it. And her quilting is perfect. And now I have some more fun things to play with -- I'm really excited to come up with a project for those shear purple leaves. They are really cool! Here is a detail shot of the mug rug:

And the beauty continues on the back. Is that a hand-dye?:

                              Thank you so much, Geneva!
