My turn! My turn! In today's mail there was a PACKAGE FROM IRELAND!!! I am now the proud owner of a "Rita Original"' and for sure it will be the start of my TQS mug rug gallery! No food or beverage will ever touch it ! I love my fish and shamrock! Beautiful design, beautiful appliqué, beautiful quilting! And to top it all off, she even put a bird (kestrel) postage stamp on the package! (Bird watchers like me really get off on that sort of thing. )

Connie - I love your mug rug. I imagine many of us will end up with a bit of wall space to display our mug rugs, and almost none of them will ever be used for their intended purpose. I'm thinking of my wall spot right now!

On my mind - my 4-year old grandson can't walk (for three days)due to pain in his legs, which seem to be 'growing pains' -(He also has strep throat again.) He has grown 1 1/2 inches in 3 months! He is off the charts - almost 4 feet tall, and only 4 years old. Has anyone ever heard of this? Doctor doesn' seem to concerned. :|

It might have something to do with the fact that they don't have anthing urgent to work on at the moment  I've got my first one started, but must crack on with a few more bits & bobs for my thimble class in a couple of weeks....

I've been wondering should we be including fast finish triangles on the back of these mug rugs, since it seems that most of them are going to end up on the wall rather than under mugs?

Terrie, it is obvious that your grandson hasn't read the book on how to grow the 'average method' as authorised but the 'experts', but is doing his own thing - and isn't it a relief that spring is nearly here and he can start wearing shorts rather than trousers - because lets face it, it sounds like he is achieving that all by himself  I hope he is feeling better soon, and good luck with the 3 days bed rest - that could be hard work on everyone around, if he is a get up and go sort of character.

PS I think that you should stop putting the fertlizer in his shoes for a few months

Terri, hope your grandson gets better quick. I have a 4 year old grand son also. (turned 4 4/18). He is a tiny thing. At the bottom of the charts. It looks like your little one is going to be really tall. He is probably just going through a growth spurt. Saying a little prayer for the little guy.

Rosemary, good idea about the fast-finish triangles! I'll add them to my next creation, since they won't interfere with horizontal or vertical mug rug usage

Glad you like the mug rug Connie. It is the second in a series of fish mug rugs. 8) I am afraid it is too late for me to put fast finish triangles on most of my mug rugs because I only have 3 left to finish and post. I will put them on the last 3.

Terrie I just had a look at my growth chart for my son who is now 14 and over 6ft tall. In 2003 he was 4' 1" tall - he was born in 1998 so that makes him 5 years old at that stage. I reckon your grandson is just going to be a tall fella. My children were always the tallest in their classes in school up until they were 12 years old. Then the girls stopped growing and neither of them is as tall as me (I am 5' 7") but my son is still stretching. I feel sorry for your grandson having growing pains and a strep throat, I hope he feels better soon.

I like the idea of triangles on the mug rugs. I'll do it on the rest of mine.

I just googled 'fast finish triangles' and will try them out when I get to the mug rugs. Good idea.

Thanks for you comments about my grandson!

Well I've finally finished one after 3 or 4 false starts that ended up in the bin! (was "butt-ugly" the technical term??). I finally decided I should stick to techniques I know, rather than trying to be too clever with these, otherwise I would never finish one ops:

Hope to get it in the mail today.........now on to the next one - these are FUN!!!

Hey Robin, how about fishing those butt-uglies out of the bin, slicing them across 2-3 times and add in strips of white(or grey) fabric and call them modern quilts..... just sayin...

Rosemary, Love your plan. I hope she takes you up on it. Once again you bring a smile to my morning coffee time. Great way to start the day. Thanks all of you for the ongoing chit-chat.
