That's good Lois because my focus is on simple ideas too. Good luck with it today.

I made those first two with specific people in mind and did my best at that time. And I really like them.

I think we should try to keep the spirit of the mug rug in mind - this is meant to be a fun project where we share a little of ourselves with each other. They are not intended to be award-winning art quilts. They are not to be judged by their recipient, they are to be admired for being done and arriving and will take pride of place on my table with my favourite mug on top with a nice cup of tea and hopefully a bun or cake too!

So, put a smile on your own mug ( do you use that word to describe faces) and and make a fun mug rug.
Aren't you a fast worker Rita, I haven't even started yet and won't have a chance until after Easter.

Not intended to be award-winning art quilt :?: - so disappointed as I thought that if I kept them for a while and you all become famous I could sell them for lots of money

I will enjoy every single fun mug rug I receive and love it.

anyone who wants to hang on and hope for the lots of money is of course very very very welcome to do so - but in my case:
          a. you'll be holding on to them for a very very very long time - before you make any decent money on them ops:
          b. i will be holding on to all i get and cherish & enjoy to my little heart's content - no money will be made from these (except maybe by my descendants)

Lois, sorry that you're being "mugged" by the rugs! Are you on Pinterest? If so, there are MANY pins and boards for mug rugs, brimming over with inspiration. At first I was having trouble choosing what to do, but I figured out that if I just kept looking at the pictures something would bubble up to the top. I am having tons of fun with this! 3 done, to be mailed later this week. At present I am working on one for a certain Irish lass (who shall remain nameless! )

So I procrastinate. Part of my problem is a fear of making a "butt ugly" project. Well now that I slept on it and looked at it again I can tell you it's still "butt ugly".
Dear Loise, I so can relate to what you say. I do the same all the time.

That said, I definitely want that mug rug. It'll be my first mug rug and will always be special to me because it was made by a wonderful friend I got lucky to meet in this forum.
