It really is fun isn't it? I made two little tops yesterday.

I started pulling fabric and starching it yesterday. I would so love to carry on with them now - the ideas are starting to flow - BUT I have got to get laundry  & packing organised for going away tomorrow, for a week and I haven't touched it yet.

      Still at least

I am happy to report that yesterday went much better. I made two mug rugs ready for binding. The binding is cut, pressed and ready to put in place. I have a third one ready to layer and quilt. All of them are pieces practicing new skills. So you are my guniea pigs.

Now back to the "butt ugly" one from a few days ago. I am thinking about Limbania's request to be the owner. First of all, it was a practice piece for a larger piece on which I was working. I was practicing thread painting techniques I had learned at AQS Lancaster from Pam Holland. I was well pleased with the sewing but I was disappointed in my choice of thread color. ....Not enough value differentiation! When will I learn? Well, Pam said if you use cotton thread and you want to add highlights, or doctor up a spot you can do it with the Tusineko Ink pens. This is where the "butt ugly" part came in. I just don't have the same gentle touch with those pens that she does. I wanted to add subtle shading instead I got blotches of color. The good part is that I made a better color choice in thread for the larger project and the sewing improved too. I did take a lot of time with the sewing on the practice piece because I hate practicing on something that doesn't have a purpose. It's a waste of time and materials, and besides that, my skills are better when I know the piece matters. Limbania, I am thinking a few coffee stains will only improve its appearance so it will be on its way to you just as soon as I hand sew the binding. End of story!

          Have a good day everyone.

Fantastic that's what I'm going to do, use you all as guinea pigs.

I've got first done and tried bringing back forward as binding but disaster so back to old faithful.

            Cyclops is amazing

Yeah Lois, knew you would find the perfect solution... Keep on enjoying folks, I am, even just reading about it...
I am still hoping to get my dads quilt finished by Friday night so I could get it in the mail on Saturday morning... Someone gave me a wicked cold (I wouldn't actually go around getting it on purpose), and I wish that whoever gave it to me would hurry and take it back... So I'm now in bed with my iPad, a large pot of ginger tea and TQS... and will continue sewing on Friday - luckily it's goodfriday and it's a holiday here - 4 days of sewing... I better get rid of this cold it's making me feel way too dopey!!!

Fine time to catch a cold, eh, Lotti! Get well soon! Ginger tea (sliced ginger boiled for 20 minutes in water and add honey or sugar, not the tea bag) is my old standby--will definitely help.

Woohoo! Can't wait to get my first mug rug Loise. Thank you, gracias, grazie, merci!!!

Sounds like everybody is having fun! I'm getting ideas/inspiration and starting to get some fabrics ready. Great idea to use them as practice pieces, I'm joining the club

Sorry you got a cold Lotti. Tea tree essential oil is an excellent antiviral, antibiotic, anti fungal, etc. you can rub it in the sole of your feet, chest and put a drop in your belly button, this can be done 3-4 times a day. Mix a few drops with water in a spritzer bottle (small) and spray around the house. If you can get the organic kind and are brave with strong tastes, it's safe to rub a drop in your gums or put a drop in your toothbrush and brush teeth with it. It'll will definitely help and shorten de duration of a cold. You can also put a drop in warm water a gurgle with it. Hope you feel better soon.

Let me guess Wendy... An iguana? Nah! Oh! Oh! I know!!! Una gallina - a chicken
