Jaane (you'll understand later), "T for Texas" is on the way to you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Brenda, I read your profile and your interest in the Kansas City Star quits peeked my curiosity. How did you get interested in collecting the patterns? How long have you been doing it? When you wrote your profile information you said you had !00 yet to find? Where are you with that now? Where/how do you find them? How many Kansas City Star patterns are there? If I ask too many questions like that just tell me to bug off and google it?

Hi Brenda! You have a little prize heading your way, too. The little guy made it into the post yesterday.

About two weeks ago, I received a really special package in the mail from NancyinStL. It was a beautiful mug rug she made from a design of her friend Adamsme, another TQS member. I have to say, when I received this Mug Rug, it really made me want a piece of cake. The colors match the perfect yellow cake with a dark chocolate ganache. Yum!. Thank you so much, Nancy!

Oh, the KC Star patterns! My grandmother and her sisters were the quilters and I remember them using patterns out of the newspaper(The Fort Worth Star Telegram!). About 8 or 9 years ago I saw some patterns on e-bay and they spoke to me! I have been buying and selling them since then. I am still looking for the last 100. I got distracted a couple of years ago when I was diagnosed with lymphoma. All is going well and I am back in the hunt. Surprisingly the most difficult to find are the patterns from the 50s and 60s. I love the patterns, but the information on thecreverse is priceless, like the story of Clyde Barrow being seen with an unnamed female accomplis. Or the fact that oil prices had hit $1.00 a barrel. I love talking about the patterns and trying to find out more about them.

Thank you, Brenda, for the back story on the KCS patterns. I love antiques and these patterns are a great fit. It was amazing when I first opened my #1 muggie from you and saw that pattern...couldn't believe you actually meant to send it to me. So very glad you're feeling well now and back to making these wonderful gifts.

Sue, you have a beauty there from Nancy. Now you won't have to try and remember whether to put your mug to the left hand side of your cake or the right :P

Thanks, Brenda. Let us know how your search is going from time to time. I am sure we would all love to share in celebration of making a new acquisition.

Nancy, that Mug Rug is adorable. I guess you could call it eye calories and hope that's satisfying enough. Sue, does that work for you?

I am pretty sure that at some point a few years ago it was possible to buy a disc from somebody with all the KC patterns on them. I tried to purchase one but it was in the early days of the internet and paypal had not happened so it wasn't possible, so I gave up. Anybody know about that?

Lois, eye-candy cake definitely works for me! I've had to lose a bit to get up and down the stairs with baby Ellie. It still isn't easy. Hmmm, could be because we have just about a lot more to lose! I'm off across the Bay to her now. Ya'll sound like you are doing a great job of holding down the Forum Fort. Everyone is still posting fabulous work. Keep it up! I'll get to catch up one day.
