I have never heard of that expression "Dickie Bird", can you tell me what it means?

A 'dickie bird' is just an expression we use for a little bird - as in the children's rhyme:

Two little dickie birds sitting on a wall
One names Peter the other named Paul
Fly away Peter, fly away Paul
Come back Peter, come back Paul.

Well done Connie! It needs to be hung up on a wall.

Unfortunately we can't see Rita doing the actions that go with the rhyme, so here is a link:

Funny you should mention that Lorchen because I looked it up on Youtube myself this morning and was so disappointed to see that particular video because she is not doing the proper actions. I made a little video and even uploaded it onto youtube but when I looked at it I had managed to cut off the tips of my fingers (which were pointing downward) so I will have to try again tomorrow. :?

I'm interested to see what actions you use. The actions on the video match the ones I've always seen, although we've used "black birds" instead of "dickey birds".

My mother taught me the blackbird version and their names were Peter and Paul and the motions were the same as on uTube.

Me too, they were Blackbirds, not Dickie Birds. I guess it depends on the continent

I hope that Rita will sing it to accompany the actions!
