I know Nancy, it is exciting and more so for me this year as I am actively involved in a group. Your quilt is in the country and Lorna will get it to me when she can, but, it is in the UK. The only one still outstanding is Marilyn's which Limbania has said she will be sending this week. I have faith in the others to get the quilts back in plenty of time. or else

Can't believe I've only had Rita's quilt 3 days. I can't see the floor of my sewing room any more. There are piles of fabric everywhere

I've drawn the design I want but whether I can do it is another matter. Goodness knows what Lorna's going to think when this lands on her doorstep after Christmas

I am sure she will think it is wonderful Wendy just like the rest of your work.

Oh I do know how you are feeling Wendy. About a week in my ability met up with my aspirations and boy was that a battle! I know you can do something wonderful (and I have a beautiful mug rug to prove it!) I can't wait to see where Chinese Whispers takes you. I ended up with such a huge mess in my sewing room that I still haven't sorted it out - probably never will.

I am sure our sewing rooms would be somewhat like an archeological dig were someone come in and investigate after we're gone. in each layer they'd find remnants of quilts we were working on. I tend to clean up, sort of, after each project but if I'd clean up completely I'd never get on to the next one. ops: ops: I guess I give things a lick and a promise more often than a thorough cleaning.

I know how you feel too, Wendy! I almost scrapped my design well after starting to piece it and my room looked like a tornado had passed through it. But I stuck with what I had started and was glad I did in the end. I, too, have a beautiful Wendy mug rug and so I know you are going to turn out something beautiful and inspiring. When I received Nancy's CW quilt, I had not quilted anything larger than a mug rug--all the mug rug practice helped with the CW quilt. You're in good company and you will do well. Carry on!

Agree Renata, the size is a hurdle. My first quilt was King Size  I quickly downsized and now they are all either lap quilts, cot quilts and ones like this are well under 24 in.

I've got over that hurdle though and after struggling I've got the base fabrics down and it doesn't feel so unwieldy. I want to show you and get your ideas but I can't!

I'm back to working full time this week and have some really late finishes so won't get so much done but plenty of thinking time. Oh what you all went through

Yep! my sewing room hasn't recovered yet either   and the sewing table needs more of a pitchfork than a lick and a promise (interesting that that phrase is used both sides of the pond, it is one that my Mum & Gran used to use). and I really need to get to my sewing table, because I want to get on with some cutting out. I had a thought overnight that a great backing for my Wot Rott quilt would be to make a scrappy trip around the world 'a la Bonnie Hunter' using strips off all the fq's I was given for running it. And it would also make a great leaders & enders project too. 8)
