Thanks for the reminder to read the instructions Maureen, I needed that, and I will do before I begin when my turn comes.

Now Maureen how are you going to sew on the labels if you can't look at the quilts. Will they end up being sewn on the front and how will you know whose quilt is whose?

Sorry, Nancy and anyone else who couldn't get in touch with me.

We've had a wonderful visit from family. My daughter and her husband and 5 kids came over for 2 weeks AND my brother and his 3 kids happened to come at the same time!! We had already rented a 9 passenger van to handle my daughter's family. In addition I drove a separate car with the 4 additional passengers. Kids ranged in age from my granddaughter, age 5 (almost 6), to my nephew who turned 22 while we were on our trip. We had a great time visiting Hadrian's Wall, Scottish Highland Games in Inveraray, Glen Coe, the Colloden Battlefield near Inverness, we swam with Nessie in Loch Ness, and hiked to the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye. Those are just the highlights! Scotland was absolutely gorgeous and we had such a wonderful time. On the trip back south we stopped in Blackpool for a swim and an evening of fun. We spent the next day at Warwick Castle. We had three great days in London and even squeezed in a visit to Stonehenge before getting everyone on the plane on the 27th. The weather was absolutely gorgeous the whole time they were here.

After dropping them off at the airport we spent the rest of the afternoon in Kew Gardens and Kew Palace. After one day back to work we then traveled to Amsterdam on Tuesday and Wednesday to see my parents and of course Amsterdam. They are on a month long cruise following the vikings I think. They left from Boston then traveled up the coast and on to Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands and down the coast of Norway. After Amsterdam they were heading to Ireland and then back across the North Atlantic.

I did find 2 quilt stores in Amsterdam and bought a fat quarter in each. Today is definitely my down day. So far I have done absolutely nothing. After browsing the internet a bit longer I need to wander into my sewing room as I am having withdrawals from being away from it all for so long.

We do have another trip planned mid August. We'll be flying to Aberdeen, Scotland and then traveling by ferry to Orkney and Shetland Islands! I am so excited to make it all the way up there.

If you want to mail packages through me, I've listed the information in this topic. You can do it even if I am not here. The mail goes to our post office box on base and is not left at the door. (How sad about the recent stolen quilt.)

      Wendy, you have an answer for everything - that made my day as I could do with a good laugh today. I hadn't thought of that ops: ops: but I suppose I can get Kim to pin the correct label to the correct quilt and then I can sew them on when I take them to the Studio before the hanging starts, OR do you have a better idea :?: :?:

Wow Lorna, you really have been travelling and seeing the sights in the UK. I agree with you about Scotland - the highlands are breathtaking. And what a great trip you will have to the Shetlands and Orkneys I have been to Skye but never the Orkneys and Shetlands - someday.

Lorna you seemed to have had a terrific time travelling around with your family – so what is another 4 people to add to the rest. Did you like the Inverarary Highland games :?: Did you go over the Rest and Be Thankful or just stayed on the A82 :?: You might have seen the sign for Helensburgh just after Cameron House and the first part of Loch Lomond. Did you get the beautiful weather we had recently :?: What great places you travelled, I am sure you all enjoyed seeing all the sights. I am sure you and your husband will enjoy Orkney and Shetland a lot.

I had to look up Rest and Be Thankful. (cool name!) We missed that. We stayed in Dumbarton and looks like we took the A82 to the A83 over and back from Inveraray. The weather was beautiful. We had warned family so much about how cool and rainy it would be that we barely had enough warm weather clothes.

Dumbarton and the areas around it is where the LLQS is held. Which hotel did you stay in? I only live about 8 miles away. If you took the A82 to Arrochar then the A83 to Inveraray you would have went up the Rest & Be Thankful. It is the windy road outside Arrochar which goes up over the Glen with a rock face on one side and quite a drop on the other side and at the top in the olden days people, before cars, would rest and be thankful that they had reaches the top. A lot of times in the bad weather there are landslides so the road is closed while they are fixing it. There is a single-track road down in the gorge that they open for when that happens. You probably would have noticed long poles with a red top on them by the sides of the road in a lot of places in the Highland. They are for when it snows so you know where the road is.

Lorna, what a wonderful trip--thank you so much for the posting about the places you've been to recently with so much company! I've only read about the places you've seen. One day...

Maureen, I thought we were not supposed to share pictures of what we did in order not to influence others and so that the big reveal could be unveiled at Loch Lomond, but your quilt is already done and it's not like you're sharing the quilts with others... you should be able to see them so long as you don't share, right? After all, you are our fearless leader, the glue that holds us all together, you're in charge, I think you already have permission!

By the way, to save you time, would it be heresy to fuse our labels to our quilts or is that a big no no!?

Of course you can see them. It's not going to influence the quilt you've already made.

It's going to be so much fun seeing them next year

Then she'll have to get them laid in a pile wrong side up and hope she doesn't sew them on upside down
