Well Maureen I hope you continue to be so lucky. Rosemary, sorry to hear you are poorly. I think your DH might get his wish tonight as there is widespread snow forecast. We are supposed to be heavily hit tonight on the east coast of Ireland. The kids will be so pleased if we are snowed in. I won't!

Limbania - How exciting! I'm starting to shake since it's getting closer to my turn!! But I can't wait to see the beautiful quilt you create!

Rosemary - I'm sorry you're feeling poorly and hope that it all goes away quickly!

And I hope for good weather for everyone, whatever they need. Less precipitation for Rita, more for us, etc. Finally, I hope for warmth for Izzy as she runs around in her shorts and spaghetti straps!!

Well, it seems like we all are getting winter weather extremes ! Sorry you've got the bug Rosemary....
hope you over-the-pond folks aren't having the Flu like we are here in the States ! I'm working at
dodging it  ...Rita...too much of a good thing..I complain about an inch or two of rain living here on
the edge of high desert country ops: ...it sure can do lots of damage ! Limbania...I had the best nights' sleep !
I'm glad it's all in your capable hands ! Maureen...will send your quilt out on Tuesday...and email the
info then, too. I've enjoyed having your Whisper on my design wall. ! I'm back to work on "Easy Street"
and it is sewing together smoothly...I love to piece ! I'm hoping to get some photos of the treadle machine
today..as DH has the shop warmed up...he's done all he can do on the cabinet. Now it is up to me to stain a little
and put some finish on it. Hummmmm? stop sewing ! Hummmm? Should we start a thread about our "old friends"
and "new to us " sewing machines? I read several comments about them here and there....

Well seeing as Limbania is not being very forthcoming about what Marilyn's quilt is like I will show you a photo of my first pair of knitted socks since I was 11 years old. It's all Renata's fault. She posted a photo of socks she was making and I just had to give it a try. It has been a particularly cold winter here and my feet have really been hating it so that spurred me on. I made this pair for myself and they fit absolutely perfectly. They are made with 75% bamboo and 25% nylon and they feel so soft. I have already reached the heel on a pair for DD. Thank you Renata for reminding me of this long forgotten craft. (I think I am getting tennis elbow again now. )

Your socks are so pretty, Rita--the colors look like opals! You did good and I am very happy that you blame me--I usually get blamed for stuff I don't want to be blamed for...   and you're already on your second pair... good for you (and you still got the ruby scrappy quilt done to boot! I love bamboo yarn--you're right, soft and warm. As for the tennis elbow, could you see if the drummer-turned-physical therapist has a video for that too?

Rita, those socks are gorgeous. Yes, 'back in the day' I was an avid knitter too, but in more recent years, quilting has taken over. Knitting is a great take-along project. So, now you've finished a quilt and a pair of socks. I can't wait to see what the next photo post is going to be. A quilted jacket? Quilted - for fun and charm and beauty , and jacket - for warmth. Now that sounds like a great challenge! (at least to me)
                We have a cold front here ( -25C). :|

Thanks Renata - yes you must shoulder the blame for this one too. Glad you like the socks Terrie. I used to knit a lot before I started quilting. You are right about it being a take along project. I bring the knitting with me when I pick the kids up from school. There is always a few minutes to knit before they come out. Apparently Time and Tide do wait for children, just not for us adults.
I don't know how you stand the cold. -25C? Brrrrrrrrr.

Love your socks, Rita! I've only done basic knitting. I seem to keep at it just long enough to be able to do something easy like a washcloth or a simple hat, but then move on to other things so I don't ever master it. I have a friend who is an avid knitter and quilter and we are always amazed at the things that she produces! I'm always amazed by all of the talent that you guys have!!

Where's Rita's Ruby quilt? I missed it. Like the socks. I am behind in other stuff because of quilting. It's time to renew my professional liscense and I am behind in continuing ed credits. While listening to the DVD's I am into finishing knitted UFO's and handstitching the bindings on my belated Christmas presents. Can't wait to get back to my quilting but it will be a few weeks.

I found Rita's quilt. Rubies are Forever is lovely. I am so eager to try some of those quilting techniques.

Looking forward to see some photos of your treadle machine

Glad to hear from you Loise! Hope you get caught up soon so you can get back to stitch.

Rita, do you want to get me in trouble? :? I'd love to share "The Quilt" and even more, my ideas for "The Other Quilt" but my lips and my computer/iPad are sealed, at least until 2014.
By the way, your socks are lovely. I used to knit quiet a bit, mostly sweaters and scarfs, never done socks. But motherhood and quilting got in the way and still have an unfinished project I started about 8 years ago. Is a shawl with a lace like pattern. I'm using qiviut yarn, you can see what it is here http://www.qiviut.com/about_fiber_yarn.cfm . Might have to get it out of the drawer and finish it. About 3/4 done so , it shouldn't take long.
My DMIL is an avid knitter and my DSMIL loves to crochet so they got me covered making things for the kids.

Just a quick update, I saw my doctor this past Monday and she said that it feels like a small cyst and that most of the times they're benign. It can also be a swollen limph nod. She ordered a diagnostic mammogram (which is more specific than the exploratory kind) to get more information. I have it scheduled for Wednesday of next week (Jan/30). That was the sooner they could do it.

Just to tease a little bit...  Got the design pretty much figured out. Right now I'm waiting for some fabrics to show up while testing a couple of ideas. I'll keep you posted   Hope I don't get in trouble with Mami Maureen. Well I didn't give you even a clue, did I?
