I am not doing it. I am reading about it. I am only experiementing with threads and applique techinques she is using. I am working in an 8"x10" framework. Then I will be done. Tomorrow it will be on to something else.

I should have added a  I'm like you Louis, tomorrow I'm on to something else but I don't get to the 'I will be done bit'. Having read another thread on here, I'm not alone!

Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with on monday.

My something else is a little quilt for fusing with the fabrics I dyed.

We are constantly off topic on this thread and I know we should post on another thread in the right section but hope anyone else who wants to chat joins in and plays the design game as well. Can we add 'Open House' to the title of the thread?

Where's Lorchen I've not seen her around for ages?

Well, seeing as we are not supposed to be talking 'on topic', it is not really surprising is it

this label is getting larger by the minute  I'm not sure about getting all the names on unless we go for something about A5 size (approx 8" x 6") or is that the size we will need any way. I haven't actually got around to adding labels to my quilts yet, the first 2 I added my initials & date in the quilting and the Sott's quilt had the label as part of the backing design.

Wendy, I love your chicken quilt design. I also, love chickens. When I was in Baltimore a few weekends ago there was a group of people in the park promoting "green ideas" encouraging city people to grow things (tomatoes - lettuce -spinach & etc.) in limited spaces. Since the powers that be never created an ordinance prohibiting raising chickens within the city limits it is still legal to have them in your yard or on your balcony. They were also promoting this:

The plywood box in behind the cage was the structure they suggested using in a small space. How's this for off topic?

If you love chickens google Maggie Walker and look at her Garden Party quilt. I have that pattern on my list of "wants".

Wendy, what a great design for a quilt! Would love to see it hanging somewhere as a quilt.

Wendy, with your chickens and profile photo with sheep - do you live on a farm :?: :?:

Looked at #100100. You are right that the title can be very suggestive or leading. Needed to break away from that first. I do have an idea though and will try to sketch something out.

No wish I did they live at the bottom of my garden in chicken cottage click link to coop

The sheep belongs to a friend who has a smallholding, a lot of friends I met online go there each year for fun and barbecue (chicken forum)

The plywood run could work if it had perches so they can see out and big enough for a couple but not sure if it's predator proof but how many foxes do you get on your balcony  Anything is better than a battery cage

Renata I shall be making my little quilt up so I can have lots of embroidery and blinging to do. Now if we were to do a hand dye swap I could make one for that

I really want to hand-dye, Wendy, but am not quite ready... however, in view of that, I have started purchasing a few pretty hand-dyed fabrics in order not to totally deprive myself... and would certainly be willing to share in a swap! Back of the road again tomorrow so don't know how often I'll be able to post. If I can't get my drawing posted for Monday since I won't have access to my usual tools, I'll be happy to describe my interpretation of Red Fury and give you how I came about the design.

Not quite, but not for pleasure either... No family emergencies though! I'll be back and forth for a little while.
