Annis the contrast struck me first on this revision. Good choice.

I do like the addition of the lighter fabric!
I recognized it right away once I knew which block it was in. Maybe I should have looked at the blocks first instead of the paper. At least I got a chance to read the names again before I put the papers away and I was even tempted to unsew a few more that I had duplicates of, then I remembered I still had the batik hst's.

What's PITA - here in Canada it is middle eastern flat bread...?

Sorry, Terri! It stands for "Pain In The A__"!

If you will click on the link at the upper right of this page that says "Smiley & Abbreviation Definitions", you will see it described as
"pain in the nether regions"

I've sewed a few of my strips together so I could play and see if it's going to work. I'm doing the Self-Mitered Log Cabin Block in Anita Grossman Solomon's Rotary Cutting Revolution book. I'm not using paper or sewing 8 strips together. I'm using 22" strips 1 1/2" wide and sewing 6 together ranging from light to dark to make 6" finished blocks. I'm cutting each strip set into 3 units 7 1/4" wide x 6 1/2". Sometimes my 6 1/2" is a little short but I'm not worried about that. I'm using a 6 1/2" Easy Angle ruler to cut the units into triangles, then after I get them all made I will pair them together to sew. The hardest part is deciding which ones will be mirror images. Since there are 3 units per width I can either cut 1 or 2 of them as mirror images, but I need an equal number of each so have to remember to switch the number of mirror images on every other strip set. There are mirror images on both sides of the quilt so it gets pretty confusing. If I were following the instructions I wouldn't have to worry about mirror images as she scatters the blocks throughout the quilt, but I'm grouping them together with the lighter blocks on every other round. And I'm going to be using my Batik HST's in this quilt too. You will have to wait awhile to see the finished results.

Annis, your work is always perfection but that description/explanation you just gave made my head hurt. I will have to live vicariously through you on these types of quilts.

I got my top finished! And e-mailed picture of it for prototype book. Now it is time to think about quilting... I was thinking of using both hand and machine quilting. I am not comfortable with free motion machine quilting on this kind of project, so some stitch in a ditch with machine and then some hand quilting for those empty areas? Any suggestions and advice are welcome.
