Which Quilting Magazine do you recommend?

I want to subscribe to a quilting magazine and was wondering which one you guys recommend. Thanks! Connie in California

I love Quilters Newsletter. I've been getting it for at least 15 years, plus I collect the older issues.
They must be doing something right, they've been putting it out since 1968.

Hello, I subscribe to a few mags. but one that I trully enjoy would be Quilter's Home. Mark Lipinski 's editorials have great entertainment value. The magazine offers information on a great variety of facets of the quilting world and the info isn't delivered in a hum-drum sort of way. but that is just IMHO.

One thing I could suggest would be to check the different Mags websites. they are chock full of info and you can decide for yourself which one is the best fit.

I subscribe to 2 magazines - Quilter's Newsletter (since 1998) and Quilter's Home (just started being published in the last 2 years and I started subscribing about 6 months ago). Both are great, they are different from each other, and I keep all my copies and reread at a later time. Mary Kay

I subscribe to : Fons and Porter, McCalls Quilting and BH&G Quilting....

I always stockpile a bunch of magazine when I plan to travel, especially by car. I have tried them all. Regardless of what magazine... sometimes they are very good and sometimes I cry for the poor trees cut down to supply the paper.... they can all be very bad.

Any magazine I choose must have patterns or better yet new techniques to try. I have read Quilter HOME and like only 50 % of the articles... sometime Mark tries to hard to be cute or provocative. I buy quilt magazine for quilt information not recipes, advice on love / sex, etc.

          That is just my opionion.

I subscribe to Quilter's Newsletter, the AQS mag, and Quilter's Home. I will keep the first two, but probably let the Quilter's Home one lapse. It was amusing initially, but I just lost interest.

I have gotten a lot of quilting ideas from Fons & Porter over the years. I'm with you, Pat, and have lost interest in Quilters Home. I have tried a few others but have let all my subscriptions expire.

I'm going to let all my magazine subscriptions expire except for Quilter's Newsletter. I also checked out Quilter's Home, found it initially funny but basically didn't care for his humor enough to subscribe.

I've only read one issue of Quilters Home. I found it to be all about Mark, not so much quilting.

I keep going back to Quiltmaker magazine, which I subscribed to as a beginning quilter. There are several patterns in each issue, and the patterns range from Beginner to Challenging (Experienced). The directions have been complete and easy to follow. They also show 2 colorways for their pattens. I used Quiltmaker patterns for 2 of the quilts in my profile: Uncle Sam, and the wool Home & Harvest appliqued quilt. It's true that some issues have not been as appealing to me as others, but over-all, I've been happy with it.

My favorites: Quilters Newsletter and AQS. I will ask for renewals as Christmas presents.

I still love Quilter's Newsletter and periodically I'll pick up a copy of Quilter's Home. I have a subscription to QN, but the price of a subscription to QH is anywhere between $25-$29 for only six issues. Is it me, or are these subscription prices getting way out of hand?! While I enjoy reading QH because it is really different in character, it would be way out of character for me to spend that kind of money for only six issues.

I usually just trade off with my girlfriends. We put our names on the magazine and keep trading them off. We have a bookshelf where we store the magazines. Those special to us we usually do not share til after we are done with them... it is strictly voluntary amoung the girls... We all seem to like different magazines so we get expose to different types.

I'm letting all my subscriptions end except for Quilters Newsletter and Quiltmaker. Quiltmaker was the 1st quilting mag I subscribed to and I like how they have the patterns for the quilting. I will remain loyal for a while yet.

Great idea on the sharing of magazines! I might see who I can try that idea with!
