Ok--here is what I have done. When I made the center of the quilt I thought I would really like to do some thread painting of pine branches. I chickened out and did the applique. For the March border, I thought I would finally give in and do the pine branches in thread. Where the flowers are on Sue's I put appliqued Christmas ornaments. I love this border. The problem is that it looks very delicate and the rest of the quilt does not. So, my thought is--since I haven't really been happy with the center--that if I did a wreath made of the same pine branches that I might like it a lot better. So here is the plan, I am going to cut a new center, make a pine wreath, maybe put some holly leaves in there or a pointsettia on the wreath and see if I like it better. If I do, I will take the center out of what I have done now and put the new one in. If not, I will take the bigger leaves off the applique that is in the center now and put on smaller leaves.

Wow! Ritzy, that is beautiful! Very creative. I can understand why you would want to have your center go with those two borders. If you're not happy with what it looks like now, the time it takes to do a new center would probably be a good investment. There have been times when I didn't want to take something out or rip out quilting, and after it was done, I felt much better. Kathy

Ritzy, your thread painted pine branches look wonderful! I can definitely see how a pine wreath in the middle would be perfect with it. Perhaps you can save your center as the start of a different project...

Ritzy: I have to concur with everyone else. Your Evergreen and ornament border is stunning, and I would want to re-do my center if it didn't look right with the border. Please save your center for another project - I know you spent a lot of time getting that beautiful and balanced also.

Well, the new center is made and had three sides of it put in place when I noticed the stripes were not going the way I want them to go. So, took it all apart--again!!!! Will try it again when I am fresh.

Ritzy! Your pine bough border is awesome! I'm having issues with my non swag border too. But I admire you redoing the center. Good luck! geneva
