I'd like to ask for prayers for my Mom and her gentleman friend of 10 years. He's dying and is ready to go, but I think this is going to be pretty tough on my Mom. She's been in a terrific amount of pain from a wound on her leg that the doctors can't find a way to heal, and it's been that way for more than a year now. Every treatment they try seems to be painful, so now she's coping with both things, and I'm several states away. I'll be out to visit her in early September, and my brother lives in the same town she does, so that helps, but this weekend may be the time Oris goes, and I'll be away for a quilt retreat from early tomorrow (Friday) afternoon until late Sunday afternoon. So I won't be as accessible as normal. Thank you for your prayers. Robin

On it, Robin. Prayers and strength for your mom, or is and your family.
And still keeping on top for all others too.

Ken got out of the hospital yesterday evening. His optic nerve is ok now, they ruled out Lyme disease and don't seem to know what the underlying cause was. They took a bunch of tests and he'll know more after he sees his doctor in a week. Anyway, he looks great and I think it alarmed me more than him. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.

When I got home from Houston, there was some news from Nancy Wooten (mailto:Ncwwriter@aol.com) about the results of her Pet Scan she recently had concerning her cancer treatments. To recap, Nancy has been undergoing a long series of chemo treatments to reduce the size of a large tumor behind her knee that made it very difficult if not almost impossible for her to walk. The results were not as good as we were hoping they would be because other parts of her body have been affected too. I received her permission to share some of her words with you:

"I just got back from an appointment with my oncologist. I start another type of chemo next week with a new type of drug. The odds are at 30%, but hey it beats no percent!!...Thank you for the offer of asking the TQS prayer warriors for help. I would really appreciate it if you could do that.... I believe in the power of prayer....Thanks for the prayers, I'm sure I'll need them and I'm sure they are working!"

She has been one strong trooper through this whole ordeal the past year and has kept her spirits high regardless of how tired she was from the chemo treatments.

I'm getting long winded here, but I remember the first time almost 2 years ago when I first saw photos of a beautiful prayer shawl Nancy had made for a friend who was very ill. This lady has always answered "the call to help" when someone needed her support and prayers. Will you please put Nancy on your prayer list and pray that this new chemo drug helps her. From the bottom of both our hearts, thank you so much.

              Hugs,
              Shirley
After reading Shirley's post above and having received a pretty block from Nancy through the WotRoTT exchange, I wrote Nancy and we corresponded from time to time over the past year. She received the first mug rug I made this year and was so excited to have it. Her emails became shorter with time and then stopped coming a couple of months ago. I just read her obituary on the internet. Nancy passed away in Raleigh, NC on August 2 of this month. While we never met in person, I experienced her warmth and caring as well as love for quilting through our short period of correspondence. She was so brave and her faith in humanity strong. I thought those of you who remember her through the TQS Forum would want to know. RIP, Nancy.

I have been wondering about Nancy, and have had some contact with her also. I'm glad for the news, however it is very sad. She had such a wonderful and generous heart. I feared for this news, but I am glad to know. May she rest in peace. Thanks, Renata.

Frank's story just seem to get worse and worse. He has been in the hospital for over a week with a staph infection. Alice (DD) has not identified the type but likely it is the highly resistant type since he most likely got it in the hospital. The high level antibiotics are hard on your system and with the other problems he is dealing with this is not good news. This has been hard for DH and me but even harder for our very special DGD, Isabelle. We continue to pray and try to be hopeful and optimistic but it is difficult. So keep us all in your prayers and thoughts, Hugs and love to all of you and know we keep all of your concerns in our prayers too. God is Good All the Time All the Time God is Good. Ann
