    Anne,

May God bless your entire family with His peace for this very stressful time, and give everyone a double portion of strength and patience for the new year.

My little Alfie has gained 3 oz, after having lost. He is now just passed his birth

weight. He had been under the light therapy for jaundice, but that's over now. He still has an NG tube, but is receiving only mom's milk. Looks like Christmas will be in the NICU this year. Oh! but he's already been visited by Santa and had his picture taken with him and a large elf.

Here's 10-day old Alfie with his 10-year old cousin, Noah:

My husband is still in hospital.....nearly 5 weeks now. After he was transfered to the step down ward he started to get panic attacks which were awful to see and his health t deteriorated. He was transfered back to CCU and last Wednesday he had a blood transfusion as he was passing blood, they took him to surgery and did an Endoscopy and found 5 small ulcers which had started to heal and no further treatment was needed. The next day when we went in he was actully sitting up and eating which he hasn't done for nearly 2 weeks.
We still don't know if the heart muscle is too badly damaged for him to have a bypass. I have been going to the hospital twice a day.....lunch time mainly to coax him to eat and then again in the evening. My son is still here but may go back to Australia this weekend or beginning of next week. My daughter leaves work early each day to drive the 3 of us to the hospital. They have both been so supportive I don't know how I would have managed without them.
I haven't been able to do any sewing on my new machine and am longing to get back to it.

Still thinking of you Anne and hoping things improve and he gains confidence. It must have been so alarming for all of you.

Perhaps the healing of the ulcers will be the beginning of some eagerly anticipated improvement. Take care of yourself, Anne. It would be good for you to sit at your machine and do something very, very easy. Hearing the hum of that motor would be such a soothing sound. Just sew some scraps together with no rhyme or reason and create some cloth. Maybe you need a nap more. Do what is best for you. I am sure you need some good rest. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Anne, you are on my heart - this is such a difficult time and going to the hospital each day can be draining. Don`t forget to do something for your self - even if it is buying a special coffee or taking a bubble bath. Thanks for keeping us posted. Prayers continue.

Anne - nice to hear your husband is beginning to eat. I'd say your visiting at lunch time to coax him to eat has helped a lot. Sending good thoughts your way for more good news.
I agree with Lois nice if you can find a little time to play with your new machine.

Anne, I'm sorry your husband is still weak. But good to know that he is improving little by little. I'm sending a huge batch of hugs for you. Please take care of you too. Caregivers need care too.
