Well, I arrived safely. Our little man is having a terrible time breathing. Everytime he tries to breathe through his nose it scares him because he can't breathe then he screams and is not getting enough sleep. Thought I would hold him and he would sleep but when he is really tired he doesn't want to be held. Oh well, we will do the best we can. Mom and Dad are really stressed. Hope they can have a good time.

Poor little Eli! Prayers for him. It is the pits to have a cold before you know how to blow your nose. I am praying that God holds the entire family close during this stressful time. Lois

Oh, Ritzy, I'm saying lots and lots of prayers that little Eli recovers quickly so everyone can get some rest! Hugs, Robin

Would some warm steam help to loosen the catarrah and encourage the 'number 11' under the nose to help clear things up? I imagine that it also gets worse when he lays down - I know it does for me, when I am bunged up, so I would also suggest keeping his torso supported semi-upright.

I know, I know - I am probably try to teach 'a Grandma to suck eggs', just a thought though.

Praying for peaceful sleep for the whole family!

Praying for little Eli. When our Timothy was tiny he had some upper respiratory stuff going on and I was told to turn the shower on hot and sit with him in the bathroom in the steamy air. Got a facial at the same time.

Ritzy, if you can get hold of Eucalyptus oil or Tiger Balm, then just massage a little into his chest every few hours. It help with the breathing - from small babies to 6''4' men.

Thanks ladies. Eli is such a happy, sweet baby when he feel good. Not enough sleep today so he is in bed. Praying he will sleep thru the night.

Ritzy, I have also heard to rub Vicks vapo rub on the bottom of the feet to help with breathing. Don't know at what age to try it, though. Anyone heard of that? Judy in AZ

Yes, Judy, that's another thing you can do, and it's ok for all ages.

Tiger Balm and Vicks are very similar.

And if you are worried about the creams on his tender skin, put a little on a rag that is placed near him so he can inhale the fumes.
I also have great success with a few drops of eucalyptus oil or tiger balm or Vicks in a pot of boiling water. Or - if your humidifier has it - in the special bit of your humidifier where these can be added. (should generally not be placed in the water in the humidifier as it leaves a residue and could clog up things.)
All the best to you all

Please keep my brother-in-law, Dave, in your prayers. He finally called Greg today to tell him that he's been in the hospital since Thursday. He just found out that he has pancreatic cancer. We don't know what stage, but it has metastisized. Greg will go visit him in the next day or so to get all the particulars.

Frances, I am sorry to hear that. I will definitely pray for Dave.
