Thankyou all. It's an amazing feeling but quite humbling there were some innovative quilts with beautiful work submitted and a couple of big names

Here's a picture of Sharon's Spinning Blocks quilt hanging at the RD2CA quilt show this past weekend in Ontario, California. I enjoyed hearing my friend as well as other viewers around us saying "Oh look all the blocks are different"!

My friend and I had a wonderful time, looking at all the wonderful quilts and checking out all the Vendors.

soooooooo many fabulous things - WOW.
                and congratulations Wendy!

oops - already a day late - sorry - i've managed to catch a bad cold coming home from canada just after the new year - am still coughing, sneezing and stuffed up.but hey - found energy on sunday to actually finish unpacking my suitcases and to sew. a couple of baby quilts that want to be done by the end of this month.

as i've not been doing much more than working, couch potatoing (our lounge lizarding), and sleeping - there's not much new - but i did manage to download the photos from my stay in canada - so hello from a few birds hanging out at my parents' house in pike river.

oh - by the way - i am lurking and enjoying - but havn't had to energy to do any writing...
big hugs and smiles to all :cheer: :P :silly: :woohoo: :woohoo:

                  Lotti,
Gorgeous pictures. Can I use the cardinal on the branch for inspiration in an art quilt? If you prefer me to not, I’m ok with that. Thanks for giving us a little treat of lovely winter weather moments.

Barb, thank you very much. Its hanging decent.

It sounds like a great show. One of the Judges comments "this quilt gives me vertigo, but in a good way". How am I supposed to improve my quilting with a remark like that. I did feel he/she said the first part and then realized what they said and added the "in a good way" part. Oh well.

                    Thanks again, Sharon

                      Sharon,
I’m sure it was meant in a good way. We are conditioned, by society, to expect that what someone says is meant negatively, most often it is only a statement that they are trying to express themselves with. One such statement that is always hard for me is, “You’re such an OVERACHIEVER” ! That’s like a slap in the face to me. Why? I wish I had the nerve to reply, “Only to an underachiever”. Smile, and walk away. But, I’ve been raised to keep my thoughts to myself on this one. BUT,,, someday,,,, LOL
Do you ever think of the ‘zinger’ that could be a reply to her comment? “Gosh, didn’t you take your meds before coming today?” I know, that’s getting a bit snarky, but expressing it among friends here on TQS keeps us from saying it out LOUD and clear. I hope! lol. Just know that you’re quilt is gorgeous, and I’m not suffering any vertigo, a bit of envy yes!!

Sharon, your beautiful quilt reminds me of a spiral staircase, so I interpret that the judge also imagined herself standing on the top of a staircase looking down into the swirling star. When I look at it with that thought, It knocks my socks off! :woohoo: :silly: :woohoo:

Luann: of course you can use the cardinal photo, I love that cheeky look he‘s giving us.

There are others as well, but none I like as much

Sharon, your quilt is amazing. To be able to get that much movement in a quilt is not simple. I think the judge didn't mean the comment in a negative way. I think it was meant as a compliment. I am giving you a compliment when I say, "good on ya!" You designed, pieced, quilted your quilt, got it accepted into R2CA, (which isn't easy) and gave literally thousands of people joy in viewing it. Pat on the back to you!

Always remember-judging is subjective. It's possible that was the first thing that popped out of her mouth and the scribe wrote it down. That's probably why she added "in a good way".
I think it's a fantastic quilt, and I hope to be able to see it in person at a show this year!
