ooops - had a problem uploading a movie clip - so my rescue day post ended up double (actually tripple) - but the last one i could delete - the quick-fix: edit and delete everythin in the post and send a portent of spring...

warning: non-quilty - non-fabric(y) and not at all related to TQS - but a bit about me and what I do...

as many of you know - i work in a company that makes medical devices - mainly stuff for the heart (Diagnostics: ECG / Pulmonary / Blood Pressure / and related as well as special patient monitors which can be used with the MRI). besides the Diagnostic devices, we also make "stuff" for resuscitation, mainly defibrillators, patient monitors ideal for the rescue service, and a mechanical CPR device. In Switzerland the phone number to call for Emergency Services is 144 - therefore the 14th of April 14.4. is "Action-Day-Rescue-Services" where many Rescue Services have special events for the public to show what they do and make their services more accessible. Our subsidiary responsible for Sales in Switzerland (I work for the headquarters where we do the R&D, Manufacturing and Global Marketing) recently moved into new premises and together with two Rescue Services "Alpinmedic" and "AAA Alpine Air Ambulance" they put on an event at their new location. of course we from the headquarters stuck our nose in and got to visit as well. yes - it was April - but actually it felt a heck of a lot more like February with snow in the morning followed by a cold and very wet day. Luckily there was not too much fog and we managed to have a helicopter visit for part of the afternoon.
unfortunately it was too cold and wet for us to do live Resuscitation Demos with the visitors. but a helicopter simulator, a helicopter jumping tent, yummy saussages, tasty cake, and various ambulances and an emergency doctors' car were of great interest. it's no often that one can walk into / sit inside and explore an ambulance with paramedics and doctors to explain how everything works. as we cannot publish people's faces without their express permission, unfortunately not really pictures showing these. but I think you can get an impression of our day.

and finally, my apprentice Julian and I saying: see you next time...

                Lotti,
It’s all about our lives, whether we’re mending fabric or helping people have the opportunity to enjoy theirs.
                Thanks for the pictures.

Lotti--I appreciated your post and enjoyed seeing the helicopter photos as I teach lots of CPR classes every year!
Eileen--Your heart looked like you learned a lot in class. What a fun project!
Geneva--I loved your three ring circus quilt.
Sharon--Congrats on getting one of your oldies accepted into the show!
Luann--Your friendship tree piecing made me smile. I may try to be more creative with piecing hidden "creatures" in future kid projects.

I missed my day to post. . .but, will catch up today!
I had a few book club posts:
Red Black and Mice All Over
DOG (it was a collaboration with my now five year old granddaughter)
                  Bitter Sweet Memories
                  I had some finishes:
                  Knit Dress for a Grand
                  Potholders
                  Scarf
a sweet pillow finish because it was a project to sew with my daughter

I shared a table runner that I made a while ago
I posted my goals for this quarter for the Finish A Long group
Yesterday, I posted the judges' comments from the quilts that I entered in local guild show.

I've gotten away from my bullet journal; but, I plan to return to using it more frequently. I'm quilting pebbles on my star patch project and look forward to having a quilt finish before summer arrives! I'll post a photo of what I'm stitching.

Terry, you‘ve been very busy, loads of stuff being finished. And your star patch is fab. I like pebbles, so much fun - and they look great.

Lotti, Thanks for the pictures and information. It's interesting to see how special emergency equipment is and how it works.

Terry, you've been busy! Congratulations on your awards. Your work is so diverse and beautiful!

A new bathroom! Yippee! I think we forget how much time we spend in our bathrooms. Good to hear from you Marilyn.

I've been going through my stash. I decided it was too much. I've been sewing for over 40 years and still had fabric from Junior High! I found that I couldn't find anything, and felt overwhelmed. It was scary but freeing to get rid of fabrics that I haven't used and will never use again. In the end I have 6 large trash bags to give to our guild's community service/silent auction. Now I can go to my stash and easily find what i want. I feel as if I've lost 50 pounds!

Spring is here and we are enjoying the nice weather. The lilacs have bloomed, the trees have leaves and I planted impatiens and zinnias.

                            Take care everyone! geneva

I will try to post within a week. Just got back from the Midwest and several weeks with my grandkids.
Good to see what you’ve been up to
Marilyn, I’m liking those eggs of yours (and non caloric !!!)
Geneva, I’m about to give up on ever sewing clothing again. If I just make that a ‘final decision’ I can delete a batch of patterns to the recycle bin (yep, they are that old!), probably a good rough tote or 2 full of ‘fashion fabric’, and I can only guess how many buttons, bows, and zippers, etc etc etc.
Passions of the Past can be very difficult to Purge, but,,,, I think that’s about where I’m headed. LOL

Oh dear you two you know you're going to be looking for this stuff next week and buying it again. Actually I have started sorting my fabric with the I mention of giving some away.

Marilyn your felted eggs are gorgeous, so pretty and scream Spring.

I've had an exciting time last week. Terrie and her husband Walter aka original lounge lizard have been over here on holiday. Lorchen (known to most of you) arranged a lunch at Liberties in London and Rosemary and I invited ourselves. We went down on Wednesday and when i went in the restaurant who was sat there?.......our Lotti!!! She'd flown over for the day for lunch from Switzerland.
What a day mug rugs chocolate, fabric and lots of laughs exchanged. Sure Rosemary and Lotti will post their pics but here's some of mine to make you smile
