Love Prairie Star! Honestly, Annis, I need to go fabric shopping with you some day. I love your selections!

Annielu, I am really enjoying seeing the process on your princess quilt. Amazing! Thanks for sharing. Margarita, you are always favorite! Love the wall hanging!

My art quilts are waiting for me to quit playing with my dyes. I'm in the middle today of 'fixing' a set of sheets that I felt were looking pretty tired. I love white sheets, but they get grungy pretty quick. I hate using bleach and I've never found a good whitener. So, today I took one set from a twin bed and gave it an ice dye! Couldn't stop there, cut up fat quarters of pfd cloth and got 24 pieces into the experiment. And some cut offs from my last few deconstructed screen printing days. All in all, a big bunch of fabric to play with. The one thing that I don't like is that I often get specks. I shouldn't say I don't like them, I just would prefer to not get them. I will post a few pics here, but within a few days, I'll have lots on my blog. www.letscreatetoday.blogspot.com

Hey fun. How do you stop yourself cutting up your sheets as well?

I've been banned from dyeing, we're in the middle of getting a new kitchen so shall have to wait for some good weather and do it outside.
The last time I did some I found added urea and the colour dissolved better so didn't get the specks. It may have been the urea. :S

Thought I'd post here because it's a fairly current thread.

                Wendy,
Were you doing a form of ice (snow) dyeing? That uses powder on top of the ice and it isn't mixed with chemical water. When I do low water immersion, etc, I use urea when I make my dye stock. But when I would be doing this type, I wonder if I were to add urea to a small amount of my soda ash solution(that would not be kept) and soak the fabric in it? But then, I'm not good at chemistry and I may be making something not too safe!!! Someday, I'll have to post about the 'almost' exploding jars in my basement. Its a good idea to keep an eye on whatever I'm doing. I think hubby has taken out extra insurance on the house, since I started dyeing cloth. They probably heard about me and denied any extra life insurance on me. Smart folks, those insurance underwriters!!!

                  Marilyn,
I love color intensity! I wonder what the results will be after the final wash, dry and press? I don't usually press sheets, but I may make an exception this time.

Luann, beautiful dyeing job. I especially like the orange tones. I can see some wonderful fall leaves there.

Terrie I will be praying for your son.

Wendy, keep us updated on the new kitchen. I love remodels.

Marilyn, I am getting a new back door too. Also some more walls put up in the basement to frame in the utility room and to close off my sewing area. With a lock to keep the grandkids out when I can't be there to supervise them.

Oh, Terrie! I am so sorry to hear about your son! I will keep him in my prayers! My son was 22 when he had surgery for a ruptured disc. He still has problems today, with leg and back pain. He's 38. Praise the Lord, he has a job that allows him to sit, walk or stand when he needs too, and a fiancé who is sympathetic to what he is going through, because she has been through it, too.

BTW, I mailed a couple of lizards to you today!

                                Hugs,
