I don't often voice an opinion, but does she know how to fast forward past the ads if they bother her so much. Looks like she has been with the show for quite a while, maybe she was just having a bad day. Oh well you can't please all the people all the time, but this show really tries. Nan in upstate NY

        Lisa N,

As a new paid subscriber, you may not have expected advertising. I have been a paid member since January 2007 and there have always been ads on the quilt show. I don't know how many people would have to pay for the ads to go away, but it hasn't happened in seven years, so I would not expect it to change.

An alternative for you might be to purchase the DVDs when they go on sale (around Thanksgiving each year.) In the past they have offered a reduced price for ordering 3 or more DVDs. It won't be as cheap as a one year membership, but the DVDs do not have commercials (hooray!)

Your comments would be appropriate for the "contact us" section of the web site. There is not much monitoring on the forum, and by now you have probably realized that there is a small, but fiercely loyal group of TQS members.

I was very disappointed that my paid quilt show content includes advertisements in the videos.

The only content that I pay for that still has advertisements is cable tv. Do you really
want to be in that category? :-(

Netflix, youtube, spotify, amazon prime, are all examples of providers where paying a fee comes with (the expected) ad-free content.

This is a very good point about the ads in the shows and I appreciate and understand the question. TheQuiltShow.com has only accepted a few advertisers and have always selected people we believe build a great product and are good to the quilting community. We limit the number of advertisers to a very small number and we don't send advertiser emails through to our membership. Even most promotions by our advertisers are rewritten by us and include education or free items to be given away in contests. It's always a balancing act and the advertising partnerships are still necessary for our existence. Your second point is also appreciated. We have recently requested some new ads.

(By the way, there is a scrub bar in the player, though you didn't hear it from me.)

That's the little line at the base of the player that goes across as the video progresses. You can grab this with your mouse and move it forward or backward.

I thought scrub bar is another term for soap.

Going forward and back using that method in the older players worked, but with the new one it just jumps to the end and I have to start over again. What am I doing wrong?

I have an Apple with a trackpad so I can't recreate the problem. I don't have any trouble getting the "scrub bar" to move where I want it. Can anyone else come up with an answer?

Not sure what you're doing, Fi, but I have a PC, and all I do is take my mouse, place it on the scrub bar, hold down the left button while moving the bar to where I want it Hope this works for you.

                          Renata,
I also have a PC and do the same thing. It worked for me once, maybe I was just lucky that time, who knows? I certainly don't mind the comercials, after all they help pay the bills and TQS is well worth having them during the shows. I will admit though that after I've seen them for awhile they do get, well...old. I'll be happy to see some new ones.

                            Fi and John,
I just went back into the shows. The more recent shows, I have not problem using the scrub bar to move around an episode. However, I just went back to Marsha McCloskey's episode 1203 (?), which plays in Vimeo, and had the same problem Fi did: when you use the mouse to hold down the button on the scrub bar and move it forward, the entire bar instantly turns turquoise and the show instantly reaches the end. The only way to get back in is to start the show over from the beginning. John, I'm sure you have access to a PC somewhere and can give it a try and confirm for yourself what is happening. You might conclude that with the older shows there is no way of navigating around an episode, I don't know, but it would be helpful for us to know if there are limitations we need to be aware of. Thanks!

Me too! It's a bit frustrating when you are looking for something specific and have to watch the entire show
