          Many thanks Lilo!!

So, Journaling Journey #1 will take us through to December so that could be up to 5 quiltlets if you wish to include the tail end of August and the September.

I hope quite a few more will join in as this gets under way. It should be a great resource for brain storming!!

I need a few more coffees first.....

Count me in. I've been thinking of my theme all night. Jan[/b]

Mmmmhhh..... I tend to sleep at night, Jan. Don't overdo the thinking. You'll need your energy for the journal quilts.

I'm not entirely certain I'm understanding the journaling concept, but I'm going through a terrible time at work. I'm retiring the end of October and am hanging on by a thread. At this time, I'm doing the work of 3 people and putting in 50-60 hour weeks. I think it might help me get to the end of the tunnel by documenting this journey. I saw this monster thistle this morning growing along the driveway which sort of seemed to represent the thorny issues I'm dealing with right now. I see that thistle with a thread painted flower. I have to go back into work this evening after taking time off to take my mother to the hospital for a procedure so I can't dive in yet. Maybe later tonight. Gloria

I seem to need an idea to get me started. (that is why I like the challenges because they give me a start) So I would like a possible topic to use in the journal quilts for the time period. But I do not expect everybody to be there with me so maybe put out one or two possible topics but leave it open if some one doesn't want to do that topic. Since I rarely follow rules I could be the one not doing the topic but it may give me an idea. Ann

Gloria, I'm sorry you are having such a tough time.

Documenting your struggle with images that kind of link themselves to your present situation are perfect for Journal Quilts. So, go for the Thistle and hopefully Journal Quilt number 4 or 5 will have a sunflower.

Ann, they are YOUR Journal Quilts and the subject(s) you are choosing should be relavant to you. But don't make things too difficult for yourself to start with. Let's say your favourite number if 4. You could make a whole series of Journal Quilts were this number is of some significance (a car because it has four wheels, the four seasons, the road outside your house, because it takes four minutes to get from your house to the local quilt shop, your favourite mints because you always buy them in packs of four, 4-Patch blocks, etc.). Or how about "Song Titles" (Each Journal Quilt would be inspired by a different one. I can see titles like "Singing in the Rain", "Jailhouse Rock", "Hallelujah", "Fields of Gold".....)

I'm going to try my best to participate, starting at the end of August. I have know idea yet what to focus on, but it'll come to me.

Oh Gloria, that is the perfect way of looking at this thing!! I hope it helps with your troubles.

I too have not much of an idea as yet but I feel something growing and will probably use the rest of August to see what happens as well. I have a whole day in the garden planned today as the sun has finally shown up! I will do my best not to think 'Journal' and something might just say hello and add to thoughts.

I think this extra month and a bit is going to be valuable while we learn!!

                        I know what I'm doing! I think.

Are we revealing all now or later??

This sounds interesting.....it'll have to be small, though. I've got too much stuff going on already. Gloria, I hope things get better for you--just think of the quilting time you'll have when you retire! Judy in Torrance

That's the only thing keeping me going, Judy. My head is so full of quilts I want to make. It's hard to imagine being able to sit down daily to create. Another question...are there size limits on these things? I think I read somewhere that they need to be 8x11 (standard paper size). Inquiring minds.

I don't know that it was a size limits as much as a suggested size--I may be wrong; but, I think if it is a journal quilt and your journey takes you to bigger--go for it.
