Wow Amo, well done on the weight loss. I've been trying to shift some pounds since the new year, I've got rid of 12 of the blighters, but getting to the first milestone (1 stone!) is proving elusive :? . I'm just going to have to spend a bit less time in front of the computer ops: . What's the secret of your success? Eat less and exercise more seems to be the only way to do it

A heart attack sounds scary Lynn, was it out of the blue? Are you fully recovered now? Sorry we're going to miss you at Malvern, but good luck with the interview. The forecast for Thursday is rain, I'm hoping it won't be bad all day, it's lovely sitting outside having lunch. At least it's been dry recently, so it should be firm underfoot.

Well I went, I saw and I made lots of people a little richer today. :? However my stash is now enlarged and I have a few bits and bobs I didn't know I needed. I seriously had to pull myself back and decide to take stock of what I had bought when I realised I was starting to buy the same stuff again!! It's now all in neat piles upstairs waiting to poke me with inspiration.

I missed meeting Ali, like ships in the night I think!! The dogs had a good romp over the Malvern hills and OH nearly found out the easy way of getting down a steep hill several times.

I have discovered I can get to the NEC by train from Salisbury quite easily so the Festival may be an option in the Autumn!!! 8)

I could not believe how things have changed in such a short time. I haven't seriously quilted or sewn in 11 years and then I had to go between a dress fabric shop and the craft shop to buy what was available. Now I don't think there is a limit!!!!!!

A good day for my first ever modern day quilting adventure!

Glad you had a good day Amo, sorry to have missed you, but I probably walked past you several times . I had a great day, managed to stick to my resolution only to spend the cash in my purse (but I did manage to spend all of it no problem  ). I met up with loads of friends, I think half of our local patchwork group was there. It was a great day and the weather stayed dry, even if the hills were shrouded in cloud. What fun, I'm shattered now, and am off to bed, no staying power obviously (though in my defence it was our quilt group this evening, so it's been a long day)

I love it! thanks for the lead. some nights after work, I just like to settle down and watch a quilting show. TQS has new ones only every couple of weeks. I can watch these any time I want.

I will definitely be visiting that site now!

Rosemary, I totally understand. I've bought capri pants that were the perfect length of long pants on me. No hemming! Yeah!

Who wouldn't want to see the quilt made in 1718!!

Amo, The quilt museum in York is definitely worth a visit. However do check out their website to see what their current exhibition is as it changes. The museum is just that main hall you see in the video and another very small room. Most of the quilts are in storage. I believe that if you want to see a particular quilt it may be possible to arrange in advance for it to be taken out of storage for you to see. You can always contact them and find out. http://www.quiltmuseum.org.uk Pam

Bad luck on the job Lynn, but at least you did get to malvern. I saw all the Japanese woven fabrics and bought a half metre piece for a bag, but I could have bought a lot more, they were gorgeous. I particularly loved the block of the month that Antique Angel are doing with them, but I couldn't justify the overall cost, so I bought a pin cushion kit . Look at http://www.antiqueangel.co.uk/cart/p...3c2822866d8dc4 if you want to be tempted!

I agree the quilt museum in York is great, and it is local for me

The Quilters guild has made a copy ot the 1718 quilt, which I understand to have been very challanging, so that the copy can be on show whilst the original is kept safe and only brought out for high days and holidays. Unfortunately the co-ordinator Pauline Adams, has not brought out a book of their research, experiences and patterns (when I asked in February) which I for one would love to buy. It could become a UK 'Dear Jane'. Maybe if enough people asked for one, it might be written

Not good about the interview Lynn! There’s something better out there somewhere though.

I saw the Japanese fabric and they have done some lovely stuff with it. You have to have a good eye with it though or I think the colour can be a bit muddy. I keep trying to think of something for the ones I have and nothing has sprung to mind yet. I’m sure it will in time though.

Thanks for the hints re the York museum Pam and Posy. I think I could fit it in, I keep meaning to visit York anyway. Not Quite Son in Law’s parents live there so.......

And thank you for my house point too. That website is so new it’s still squeaking and there is hopefully going to be a bit of an expansion over the summer months. These things don’t grow well without a bit of an audience so keep visiting!!! (And I'm doing a Jennie Rayment workshop soon too  )

Thanks Amo, also, I checked out that site, it looks like it could be interesting when they really get going. I made a bag with the japanese fabrics, I have posted some more photos on my profile so you can check them out, when you have nothing better to do. But there is a problem with the new site, by the time we finish looking at that and all the other sites, there will be no time to sew!!!

It's a different body position You have to leave the sewing machine on a regular basis to relieve the tension build up in your shoulders. You can roll your shoulders while using a mouse and surfing the net. When you start tensing up from that, go back to the sewing machine position.

WARNING!! It is highly inadvisable to interrupt this routine with anything like the risky Vacuum Cleaner Manoeuvre, the highly unpredictable Ironing of the Sheets and of course the possible allergy causing Dussssting.
