There were some fabulous quilt collection exhibits and I was particularly impressed with the SAQA one - I am so envious of people who can do real art quilts. I loved these two by Mary Pal:

    Pop Art anybody?

(apologies I can't quite make out the name of this artist - I think it's Pam Kubert but it's too blurred in the photo, does anybody else know?)

And a few more images in the SAQA exhibit. You can just about see 'Windblown' on the left which I seem to recall won a big prize somewhere in the USA recently.

Apologies again as I don't have the names to hand. I did buy the book to go with this exhibit 'People and Portraits' but Janet took it home with her by mistake...or maybe it wasn't.

Another favourite exhibit was one by Ann Johnston with her Quilts from the Sierra Nevada - simply stunning.

Then there was a collection from Kuwait called Crossroads. This one was so beautifully done-

            Ladies,

I'm late to the forum, but so glad that I made it to the party. I had such a lovely time meeting all of you in Birmingham and sharing a meal. Thanks to Rita, I've now found you on TQS.

Yay, Lea you found us! Welcome to the forum.

This is my final lot for tonight, Phillipa Naylor's quilt which won an award - was it best traditional quilt? This quilt was so beautifully executed with such attention to detail that it has to be admired. I am sure this one will be heading across the water to the bigger shows.

how did she do that twisted braid?

That's a facing not a binding. How the heck did she do that?

I don't know whether to be sick with envy, green with jealousy or just continue as I am - a sloth! I hope you enjoyed the slide show. I'm off to bed.

I don't know if I was at a different show but I didn't see any of the quilts youv'e posted Rita and Wendy, I wish I had because they are beautiful.
I wonder if Bonnie Mccaffery was at the show as she shows a lot of these shows on http://www.bonniemaccaffery.com
I must have been having one of my "intellectual malfunctions" ie, senior moments.
I've said i won't be going to FOQ 2015 but never say never.

Anne it was a pleasure to meet you there. I had the leisure to walk around for four days so I had plenty of time to take lots of photos - over 300 actually ops:  - and these were just some of the best shot I managed to take. Even on Sunday we were still discovering exhibits we had not noticed before, but by then we were really too tired to take in much. It was great to be there and experience it and y'all were part of what made it a great experience.

Beautiful photographs of a lovely show. Isn't it fun to see the photographs after the show and realize the detail? I don't know about this show, but so many shows here in the US rope off the quilts so those of us with bad eyesight can't see up close. Photographs take care of that issue.

                            Thanks for all the sharing.

Can anyone post a photo of our group when we gathered at 1:00. I want the one where we had our hands out.
