Sherry -- my DS was home during Fay and just left Keesler today for McGuire and will miss Gustav. I am thinking of you and your family. Stay safe and get your stash safe. LOL

Sherry, I'm glad you posted too because I did not watch the news today. I will join in the storm of prayers and hopefully our storm will push your storm away! God bless and keep you safe.

Good luck to Sherry and everyone else on the coast that will be affected by Gustov. Since I live on the coast of FL I understand what you are going through. Sandi in FL

Sherry (and others in the path) take a look at a pic I posted on my profile, sent to me by a friend in Baton Rouge... I guess you have to have a sense of humor to get thru these things!! Wishing you well, although it's now raining here in VA for the 2nd day in a row-- a true blessing, we've been parched.

Florence-That's awesome! When I hear someone ask "Where's the storm gonna hit?" someone always answers "Right up our a**!"
Started seriously gathering stuff up last night. Put together a sewing box and a bag of fabric. It's uncertain how long we'll be staying the hotel. Could be a day or a week or ??? After Katrina people stayed for weeks cuz they had no place else to go. Hopefully that won't be the case this time! DH is stopping at Walmart on his way home this morning. That should be interesting! We just need some dog food-hopefully there's some left!

I check the projected path every day and just pray everyone and everything is ready. We had rain Monday and Tuesday thanks to Fay but I hated that other areas were flooded so bad by the same system. Love the picture Florence

Sherry, what do you do with your pets? Can you take them to the hotel? Are you taking your machine? Stay safe. Judy in AZ

Sherry, I was also wondering about your dog since you mentioned buying dog food. That was such a heart-breaker in Katrina, all the left-behind animals! Keep safe, and we'll be praying for you.

                          Sherry,
I am thinking of you and wishing that this storm would dissipate. I hope that all will be OK. I am watching it closely, checking the computer models every few hours. The weathermen call it the "Cone of Uncertainty" I call it the "Cone of Anxiety."

I sent DH to the store to purchase a Red Cross emergency weather radio which operates from a hand crank. It is also a flashlight and can recharge a cell phone. Now that is important! I found during Hurricane Rita that when I could not get a call through, I could send text messages. That is a good thing to know in an emergency.

Getting my laundry caught up today just in case...

Florence, roflllllllllllllll at the cone map you shared. Thanks a bunch!

We always lay in a few cases of bottled water and some canned stuff that we will eat anyway if no storm comes, at the end of May, so we're ready when the hurricaine season begins in June. I'm watching this thing, and if it strengthens (right now its still just a tropical storm), I'll make a reservation at a LaQuinta somewhere out of the way, since they take pets. Will probably look at making a reservation tomorrow night if it looks necessary. Right now it appears to be going well east of us. I know our Governor is already making preparations just in case. I hear that the new Governor in Louisiana is, as well. Don't know about the other Gulf states.

We also fill both bathtubs before we leave, in case the power is knocked out for a while--learned this living in MI, when we made preparations for ice storms. Really is nice to be able to flush, LOL.

Lynn, is Gustav heading for Houston? Are you close enough to the coast to have to evacuate?
                              Pat, how about you?
Sherry, have you left your house yet? All of you stay safe. Judy in AZ

Hi Folks! Sorry I haven't been here today but i've been bizzy! We've been packing up stuff to take to the hotel. What a pain in the pa-tooty. I'm tired and wired. We'll be moving into the hotel probly tomorrow afternoon/evening. Dixie gets to come with us-DH got permission from one of the "Big Dogs" to bring our little dog. She'll be a nervous wreck. Anyone know how much benydril you can give a 30 lb dog to help her sleep through it? I know how much to take for me. :? I'm bringing my laptop and will have wireless so y'all will be hearing from me. It looks pretty serious down here so please pray for everyone in the path of the storm.
