I'm going to blame you, Alex!!

I decided tonight to just have a sneaky look at the first couple of minutes of the latest show, and then leave it, and watch the whole show at the weekend. Well, I did not have the willpower to turn off the computer. So it's now way way past my bedtime, and if I fall asleep during lessons in school tomorrow I'll tell everybody that you are to blame, Alex!

I just love, love, love that programme. I have always wanted to make more scrappy quilts, and you are truly inspirational (not sure about Ricky's hat though). The quilters who were close enough to go to the workshops where you turned up with boxes full of fabric scraps are very lucky indeed.

If anybody reading this feels like me about the programme and wants to 'scrap-up' their stash, I will gladly send them a squishy envelope from the UK. I think I can manage 4 envelopes quickly and easily, and afford the postage. So, who wants to 'scrapyfy' their stash and get ready for a scrap adventure?

I'm now off to Amazon and see if I can pre-order Alex's book........................ whosh.................

Ooops, forgotten that I need to get some sleep. Amazon will have to wait till tomorrow.

    By weight or volume?

I like scrapify - should be added to Oxford's and Merriam Webster's.

Scrapify, Verb: to increase the variety of amount, variety, colour, texture, prints of fabrics in one's stash or project.
Sample sentence: I began making a three-coloured quilt, but decided to scrapify it because I just loved all the fabrics.

Not sure about the weight or volume thing. What do you think, Terrie?? I have been so blown away by the show that I haven't thought it through. Would you like some of 'Lorchen's Marvellous Scraps'??

And now I'm really off to bed.................. whooosh................

Me Me Please Pick Me!!! I haven't watched Alex's show yet, but I am a scrapaholic!! Today actually I just started a Pineapple quilt using Gyleen's ruler and I am loving it!! The more scraps the merrier in my world!!

I would like to offer an envelope back to you Lorchen! How do you like your scraps? In strips? In chunks? Let me know!

Michelle, I would love to add to your scraps. Just email me your address via the profile. I can only get to the local post office on saturdays (the curse of working fulltime), so it'll be a few days before the envelope can fly across the Atlantic.

I'm easy.... anything goes.....whatever you want to get rid of.

I was just going to watch the 2nd chapter this morning and save the rest for later, but ended up watching the whole show. It was the best excuse I had for delaying the bookkeeping I needed to redo after a computer crash.

Those diagonal corners are so easy to do. Of course I don't use masking tape since I have a seam guide that I've been using for that purpose for 10 years now. I found that if you sew a thread width away from the corner the end results are usually more accurate. I also cut off the excess fabric.

The scrap fabric selection was very interesting. No scrap quilts for me right now though so I will pass on the offer. First I need to learn how to use my longarm sewing machine and finish about 50 PHD's.

Forget Amazon Lorchen, go straight to Alex's website and you can order the book there and get a signed copy. Here's the link:

Loved the show Alex. I am a big fan of scrap quilts so this was right up my street. Thanks.

Okay scrap that idea on this side of the Atlantic - I just tried to order the book from Alex's website but it doesn't seem to be possible unless you are in the US or Canada. I guess it will have to be Amazon after all.

I am SOOO happy you guys liked the show- I always cringe when screening my own shows - but truth be known , I was pretty pleased with the outcome. As for shipping internationally, we aren't really set up for it - amazon is the best way to go....but for you Lorchen (your input and presence is GREATLY appreciated on this site) - John is going to check into it! Please email him directly at mailto:thequiltshow@gmail.com...we have an insane week ahead, so ..................If you decide to go the amazone route - just let John know. I am off to pack for my class at Alden Lane tomorrow - and more!

Sorry, count me out for this swap.
I'm trying to work on my WIP and UFO's and PNSYBHTFAI (projects not started yet but have the fabric and ideas) including a few mug rugs.

Thanks, Alex! The problem of international orders brings back memories. I'll email, but there is no rush. Enjoy Alden Lane. I'm sure it'll be awesome!

FOR some reason my internet would not allow me to load TQS or my email.... getting it fixed or else ... but I went to a local restaurant with WIFI and was blown away by the show... plan to buy ALEX'S new book. I have tons of scraps I never know what to do with ... NOW I KNOW... I have been working on a nine patch quilt all scraps and am ready to finish the setting pieces ... Alex is inspiring me to get the lead out.

Something that works for me... and Alex is doing it too.... just making the same blocks over and over again then putting them together... I made 600 three inch NINE patches from scraps and I keep making them as they are easy fun MINDLESS SEWING.... PUT THEM INTO QUILTS whenever I need .. plan to do every NINE PATCH setting there is before I am done.... I think of my little NINE Patches as ALEX thinks of her bow ties>>>> I JUST KEEP MAKING THEM!

                              .
                              .
Have fun with your project and hope to see pictures.
