Wow Lois what a great idea, a basting frame, I have to wait until I go to our group once a month but to be honest I rarely make one bigger than a lap quilt.

I've not got star membership yet that will be for my birthday coming up soon then I'll be able to watch all the episodes Yippee. I was able to watch the current one because I did Carol Ann Waugh's current class on Craftsy and we've been given the opportunity to watch for free until next saturday. In the meantime I'm watching the other ones I can see and of course there is always loads to see and do on basic membership and I love the jigsaws. Must post about current show but will go to right section.

Best luck with the quilts at IQS Rita hope you hear lots of great comments about them. Must be so exciting to be showing anyway.

Hi twiglet - I just wanted to make sure that you know that star membership just gives you access to all shows that have come out while you are a star member. Older shows still have to be purchased, although they sometimes have deals where you can get free shows or seasons when you renew or something. And there are some shows that are free for everyone. But I think the older shows are worth purchasing and I recently got all of the available shows on DVD and am VERY happy with that purchase.

Twiglet, please, send me a message via my profile so that I have an email address for you that I can attach 'stuff' to. I have a 6-month membership for TQS to give away.

And...... I'm totally harmless. You can ask Rosemary!

Seriously, my safety is important. First meetings will always be in a public place of my choice.

A few years ago I met a quilter I had only known through the internet for tea and scones, and a chat when I was in Newcastle. I turned up with my two 6-foot-plus sons in tow and this lovely white-haired, tiny, almost 80-year-old quilter got the giggles because it looked as if I had brought my own bodyguards. The lads then went to a football match and I had a lovely afternoon with a delightful quilter.

Thank you Lorchen I'll pm you my email.

I've got two lanky sons so I'll remember your tip though there is no way I could drag them along to anything evenly vaguely quilty I'm amazed the little quilter didn't run.

Last year I took a friend I hadn't met from a chicken forum to Stonleigh Poultry Show. Her husband was very suspicious as we drove off. He'd have been even more so if he'd known I discovered I'd left my purse at home and she had to pay  I wonder if she told him :?

As an alternative style of frame, if you look at the one in the picture here http://forum/the-quilt-shows-discuss...ow-mothers-day you will see that it is made from plastic tubing from B&Q and (approx) 1" x 1/2" side stretchers. You also need stick & sew velcro, the sticky part is put onto the tube, then you stitch the other half onto your backing fabric using large stitches, and it is really easy to put in the frame. It doesn't have such fine adjustment as using g-clamps at the corners, but it is very light to move about.

I forgot to say, make sure that you mark the centres of your frame, providing you have those points accurately marked, and you put your centre of the fabric to them you should have no problems with lining things up.

                            Hi everyone,
I haven't been to any shows yet this year, I've usually been to three by now, Ardingly, Chilford and Malvern so I am having withdrawal symptons, but on 22 June The National quilt Championships is being held at Sandown Park ,Surrey I can't wait. I usually take my friend who is in a wheelchair and meet up with other friends it's a great day.
It's not such a big show as it used to be but still very enjoyable.
I've been saving my pennies to spend there.
I love to see all the wonderful quilts and fabrics.
The big show will be The Festival of Quilts in August 2 days on my own to wander, try out all the latest machines look at all the latest gadgets etc; etc; and arrive back at the hotel exhausted but happy, and wondering where all the money went with so little to show for it.
Maybe I will see someone I recognise from the TQS family.
                            Happy quilting

Hi Anne, I've not been to the Sandown one but keep meaning to. Is it similar to Chilford? I love the setting of that one, it just feels so nice.

I managed Malvern this year there's a new 'wing' open with some of the display and traders but the marquee out the back is still there blowing away. I love FOQ but only manage a day, lucky you going for 2 days.

Hi Anne, did you make a TQS badge? When I go to Road to California, a big show here in January, i wear one pinned to my shirt. It's a way to notice TQS folks. We have had a "meet and greet" too, maybe you all could set one up for that show! I agree, it's so nice to see people from the TQS family.
