Thanks for the photo of the daffodils, Lorchen. They made my day - really!

Thank you for everything, Lorchen--the pictures, daffodils, quilt alliance quilt but especially your words!

Two little birdies landed in Montreal! Thanks to Lois for the B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L mug rug. TWO little birdies - how lucky can I get? - I don't think they are Dickie Birds  It will go on my wall.

Sorry I can't post a picture right now. I need to do some technical camera stuff, which is not my forte, so it'll come soon.

Yay - the postman brought my first mug rug on Monday ......and I LOVE it

Thanks so much Connie! - the colours are so happy and your stitching is exquisite. I don't think I'll be putting a mug on it - it might get dirty!

My DH suggested I should make a mug rug that already has a coffee stain on it......so that it would be used ........but I think he was just being silly :P :P :P

Well folks, spring migration has truly started. I dragged my aching back outside for a walk in the woods, found eagles, osprey, warblers and wood ducks, among others. A beautiful day. Then, when I got home, I discovered, to my joy, yet another species in the mailbox, a hummingbird all the way from Ireland!!!! This is a life-bird for me, with it's beautiful feathers and perfect stitches.

              Thanks, Rita!

Both Rita and Connie have this incredibly perfect tiny, almost invisible blanket stitch on their appliques. Care to share the secret, you two? What kind of thread and what's on the back of the appliques?

I'm pretty sure I used HeatNBond lite, with the Sue Nickels technique of cutting out the centers. I think I was hoarding my SoftFuse for the BOM ops:

As far as thread goes, it's just plain ol' Coats and Clarks from the rainbow on my sewing room wall. Busted! ops:

Sue, it sounds like you had a great day birding! We're headed to the beach tomorrow, but since my shorebird identification stinks, probably not much birding for me.

Rita, your hummingbird is magnificent! Do they have hummingbirds in Ireland, or did you have to import one?

Robyn, glad you like your mug rug, and I think your husband's coffee stain idea is great!

I'm still waiting to see the "butt ugly" mug rugs. All I've seen so far are obviously the "face gorgeous" ones! Those are so pretty, Connie and Rita!

Oh my gosh!!! Connie!!! You didn't wait for me to get back to sewing after my spine fusion surgery (which is May 13th, but who's counting ).

I found a GORGEOUS mug rug from you in my mailbox today!!! Wow, it is so pretty, I'll never be able to actually use it :-) How did you know that sunflowers are my favorite flower motif??? I'm going to put it near my bed, to look at while I'm dosed up on Oxycontin, I love the stitching inside each of the sunflower petals, and the fact that they are 3D, not sewn down around the outside! The seed FMQ in the brown center is so neat! And I adore green!!! Wow!

I've been so busy getting ready for the surgery (the house, the maintenance and repair stuff, the insurance stuff, the allergy testing for the spine hardware materials (since I'm allergic to at least one metal and one "plastic" I need the testing)... I have not looked at this forum, or TQS at all, since my last post! I can't believe there are 31 pages in this forum already!

I don't know the etiquette, are we posting photos of the mug rugs we receive? Because I want to trumpet this to the world, lol, I am doing my best imitation of "dancing around the kitchen" since I opened your package. Thanks so much! Please forgive me, that I won't be able to start yours until I'm cleared to sit at the sewing machine, hopefully around June/July.
