      Rosemary, try this link. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUse...and_The_T.html

Loch Lomond Shores, Balloch is a good place to look for canoeing. This is right on the loch.

I can give you good directions how to get there as it is very easy to get to from your hotel.

Actually Wendy, Nessie will be still at home and not visiting her relatives in Loch Lomond in May so you won't see her this trip

Well, now I don't feel quite as bad. It would be awful if I would not only miss the premire appearance of The Whisphers Across the Pond Chinese Whisper Challenge but also a visit by Nessie to her Loch Lomand cousins. You'd think she'd come in honor of the last Loch Lomand Quilt Show. Oh well! Sew bee it!

Lorna - a ceilidh (pronounced ka-lee by me at least) is a party with scottish country dancing & drinking. It's a hard life but you have to drink whisky sometimes...

Maureen, put me down for half a day's stewarding too - preferably near my driver

Marilyn - my camara has space for about 3000 pictures, I will probably get spare battery for it too, will that suffice? (if I remember to use it :P )

Wendy - if it is just yourself, you could come up to mine on Wednesday evening and stop the night. Then we can start at the crack of dawn, but a couple of hours further north already. (I should be able to excavate the guest bed by then too  )

I don't think we will be canoeing because then I would have to bring DH to help lift the darn thing, and I have to leave him behind to look after Izzy, who cannot come because it is school term time (and it is planned to make it illegal to take kids out of school during term time  )

PS on the youtube commentry I think it ought to say that american square dancing is reminscient of Scottish dancing, rather than vice-versa - where do you think it came from first  :P

Good point, Rosemary. In high school and in Girl Scouts we used to learn square dancing. I wonder if they still do that?

I'm still hoping to get away Thursday evening to fly up there. That way at least I would have all day Friday and Saturday. But time will tell...best laid plans*...and all that stuff.

I actually came on line to say that I have packaged up my quilt and Wendy's and my DH will mail them tomorrow to Maureen. woohoo! I will also be emailing you my 100 words. I finished it but want to give it a second look tomorrow. Frankly, I could have gone on and on. 100 words wasn't all that much. I could have gone on and on...but didn't.

I had a good quilting weekend. In addition to packaging up the quilts to mail I also got a few other things done. In our local guild we are doing a Round Robin of sorts called Around the Block. As with other Round Robins you start with the 12 1/2 " block. Then each person has to contribute 4 - 4 1/2" blocks and so it goes. I am very impressed with other's hand embroidery skills. They go far beyond the dozen or so stitches I know. So I got this month's done and in the nick of time as the meeting is this Wednesday evening. I have also (almost) finished the 'B' block for our BOM. I am a bit behind on this, but found that January's went fast so I am sure I will be able to catch up.

Ok. It's late and I am going to bed. Happy quilting!

                        Lorna

                        * I wrote that above (best laid plans) and then out of curiosity googled it to figure out where that saying came from. Lo and behold--Robert Burns, Scotland's national bard! "The best-laid schemes o' mice an 'men" It is a poem about a wee mouse whose nest was destroyed by the plow. Now I have to wonder if that is where John Steinbeck got his title from...

Congratulations, Lorna! How exciting that we are done and all of the quilts will be in Maureen's hands soon!
